My guess is he has pissed off the left so much that most won't buy a Tesla no matter what and they are the target market for electric cars. He needs Trump's push to his base to push his electric cars but I doubt the base would bite. In the same way Trump can't brag about warp speed or mention anything positive about the jab without getting booed.
