Most downtown Toronto workers ready to return, new survey finds

Businesses, civic officials and urbanists are mapping a safe way back to the office, and looking at technology, public health protocols and safe spaces inside and outside. Mayor John Tory is underlining the importance of ‘getting a message of confidence out’ to reassure commuters.

I think it's less about wanting to return to the office right now, and more that once it does become safe, people will want to go back to the office.

In other words, all this talk of "remote is the future of work" is bullshit. People are social beings, they'll want their communal work spaces back.

(For my part, I hope the return to offices will mean agencies who shut down their downtown locations spinning them back up later this year )

I actually thought it would be the other way around, once it opens up many of the workers who do work DT would want to continue to work from home (wfh). Surprised to see that many actually want to commute. I thought this wfh provided a balance that was missing pre-covid. I personally love the fact that I can wfh and don't ever see me going back into the office. I have saved so much financially and time wise on commuting. I def. see the need to go back as it helps but lovin' the wfh.

I am getting sick of not being able to escort. I find myself searching areas that are not in lockdown right now and thinking about going for a couple of days and hopefully get laid in the process.

I think it will be a mix. Some will want to stay wfh. A lot are sick of it and want to go back, but would be happy for more flexibility in the future. In the end I think more people will be working some kind of flex schedule of in office somedays , wfh others.
