I have a 2019 MacBook Pro and I run Parallel Desktop 16 with Windows 10. The default browser is Microsoft Edge and I just noticed that the (?/) key and the (“ ‘) keys have both become a French e. I tried to revert them back to normal keys by changing the language and input settings as well as pressing ctrl and shift but nothing works. I even uninstalled the Edge and reinstalled it but the problem is still there. This only happens when I use Microsoft Edge and no such problem with Safari or Chrome on Mac.

Any suggestion to solve this problem would be much appreciate.

I'm on Windows but what I've done is a) change the language on my computer to U.S. and also just logged off and then logged on again.

press alt+shift and scroll between the languages, assuming you do have just English and not Canadian English

"Canadian English" has the special French characters. That's why I have either UK or US English on when I type.

I recently installed Microsoft Edge 4 days ago. I like it better than Firefox or Chrome. Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, just wanted to say I like Edge so far.

With Windows 10, press the windows key, somewhere left of space bar, and the space bar to change the keyboard language to US from Canadian.

I used to make the specialty characters in ASCII/ ANSI. using the Alt key and number pad, but this laptop doesn't have a number pad. If I see characters that aren't on my keyboard, which I would like to use, I just copy the text where I find it, and paste to a notepad .txt doc. When I want to use the character, I copy it from that .txt doc, and paste it wherever.

It happened to me with a new PC. I would set it to US but it would drift back to French.

From the Windows Flag menu Go to 'Settings" -> Typing -> Advanced Keyboard settings (bottom of list)

There is an 'Override for default input method' Click the 'V' and pick English (United States)

Wait until you have to travel to the land of PQ and use your credit card. Then come back home and use your card, and it keeps speaking french on terminals for the next few weeks.
