Is this another fuck up waiting to unleash a tsunami of problems for the city.

I always wondered even before lockdown what will happen to tenants who can’t pay after 6 months.

I followed this source even before lockdown. Looks like they were behind organizing various protests to property management and owners.

Here is another source:

What happens to property owners here who have bills mortgage to pay especially after 6 months and the tenants still don’t pay .

Either tenants or both will be screwed.
If tenants are booted when CERB runs out but work doesn't resume they are screwed.
If tenants are booted but there's nobody to replace them then both are screwed.

Ok so let’s take this further.

Tenants can’t pay, they are kicked out/evicted. There is disputes, conflict, and further police tensions. Some of x-tenants find accommodations with friends and family, some end up homeless and some find a job and cheeper rent because of oversupply and desperate landlords.

Some landlords won’t be able to pay for mortgage. They will need to list their house, might lead to an oversupply, not enough demand, and result the price drop of the housing markets, especially since we are not getting as much immigrants. Some might default on their mortgage, and put additional strain on the banks. This impacts the market and our economy. We all will feel it one one way or another.

Now what happens with all the homeless people on the streets. They will start protesting and might lead to riots, especially if causes combine. Regular people who work can’t get to jobs. Some will get desperate and turns to crime. The police will be overwhelmed. It looks like it has the potential to create spiral down domino effects if not managed properly.

This is why the government needs to stay proactive with this stuff because it is important and everyone is on the edge. Hopefully Ford doesn’t drop the ball on this one.

Best solution IMHO is send everyone back to work ASAP, with masks if you are indoors and can’t maintain social distancing if you are outdoors with packed places. Hopefully the ones who lost jobs and went bankrupt can find other opportunities, but key is get everyone back to work ASAP. Unless the community somehow steps in. These people need at least 1 month grace of working before they can start paying back their rent. It might be easier for them just to default payment, file bankruptcy, and start fresh. However, if enough people do this, the banks will increase interest rates, and the ones paying mortgages will feel it. Maybe it’s time now to lock in our variable interest rates before it’s too late.

Well the writing is on the wall. Most of us are fucked one way or another.

Agreed, either get people back to work or keep supplying the bridging funding.
Otherwise this fall/winter is going to be scary.

As far as mortgages go I think banks can and should be expected to help out (as they have been already) in allowing loan repayment periods to be extended, etc.

The CERB program needs to be changed at this time as to align with how unemplyment insurance works. ie you can work and make money and CERB will top up to the maximum.
As it stands, there is a job surplus because people have figured out that they can make more staying on CERB than going back to work.

...and this is how socialist programs eventually fail...people get lazy, feel entitled and want someone else to pay for their lifestyle...until you eventually run out of other people's money.

You're about a month too late, boob.
That's the way it already works.

No. That's not the way it works. If you are working you don't get a top up. If you were already on EI then you would.

So someone currently receiving CERB who has a job to go back to wouldn't go back if they would essentially be earning less than the $2000 allowance.

https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/ei/cerb-application/questions.html
I know lots of people taking the bits of work they can get for now in the hopes that it comes back, and they are thankful that they can cover the rest of their bills with CERB.
You pay back what you make up to $2000, boob.

Its been that way for over a month now.

Be honest, the "bits of work" are cash jobs so they can double dip and avoid paying taxes.

Wasn't me who referred to "bits of work".
Yes, but I clearly said you report income back to the CRA and you are the one that suggested that you should work under the table for cash.
Why is that, boob?
Why do you think you should try to cheat on your taxes?

"you are the one that suggested that you should work under the table for cash."

Prove that I said that or add another fake news allegation to you already lengthy list.

(but we all know when you're cornered you just start deflecting with false quotes just to change the subject)

I said its easy, you report what you made to the CRA and you replied this.

You suggested working under the table.

So sad...the city can’t even handle the tent city problems. what will happen when more people end up homeless and we see more of these tents popping up where they can’t even get to drinking water.

haha show me where I suggested that. I didn't suggest people work under the table, I suggested your friend IS working under the table.

Nice attempt at twisting things as usual. No wonder no one takes you seriously.

Because "bits of work" sounds like cash jobs. Otherwise why not just say something like "another job"?

You know why? Because you are bullshitting again and are now backpeddling as usual.
