Is it worth it to make an auto insurance claim for minor fender bender?

Every insurance company is different, but this is likely how it will go down.
They make a claim to their insurance. Now their insurance company may or may not go after your insurance company but given the amount, likely it won't.
This incident will get back to your insurance company either way, as it is a known at fault accident that somehow all insurance companies seem to know about. How they do this is a modern miracle of information sharing that the Government and healthcare system could really learn from.
You are not making a claim to your insurance company.
So, likely your insurance will not go up, as long as you stay with your present insurance company. The hassle is more than the expense to them. Again all companies are different though.
If you try to change insurance companies in the next 2 to 5 years, you will likely see a rate increase.

I was in an accident in a parking lot. I hit the woman’s car. She was sitting in it at the time and she over the line. I will admit, I tried to squeeze in and shouldn’t have.

I was willing to go the no insurance route. Until I got some fake ass quote with no letter head of the shop. Just some paper.

I said go through insurance and I never heard from her or an insurance company. I don’t know if I was at fault because I hit her or she was at fault for parking over the line. But what I did learn is people don’t care about their cars, they care about money. I would bet he was trying to rip you off. I bet the company doesn’t even know about the dent.

I wouldn’t worry about it after the Xmas holidays.
If you hit a parked car I'm sure you were at fault...it doesn't matter if the other car was over the parking lot guideline you still can't barrel into them.

Not that it matters anymore, but my understanding is that even if she did a lousy job of parking, if her car was not moving and you hit her you are still at fault.
Probably. Which is why I offered to pay but when the fake quote came back, I said insurance and never heard from her. I don’t know what happened. Maybe she was told something different. Who knows. But I accepted fault regardless. I just don’t know if she went to insurance and they told her something different?????? Maybe they said we were both at fault. Who knows. But I didn’t try to accept fault.
Yeah I read that 7 days as well but it's confusing. It's says "you may lose your benefits".
It means that you could lose medical benefits for example. If you don’t report injuries right away. At least that is how I read it.

Barrel into them. Hahahaha. Yeah. Cause a light tap and small dent are “barreling into someone” but I guess I did and nothing happened so let that chafe your ass. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

You’re hard on for me is showing BTW. Are you going to quote me twice to get the double last word in this thread too????

😂😂😂😂😂

Stop making this about your vendetta with me and leave BBLs thread to him and his issue. I won’t respond to directly to you any further in this thread either.

So just an update on this....

So when this originally happened, (two weeks ago now) I had met him that same night on our street to discuss. So after him showing me a different part truck where he thought the damage was, I say "that's not where I hit you". I show him the tiny dent where I hit him and he basically says "okay, I have to let my office know and I'll follow up with you". A few days later I get a text from him with a quote he got for the damage. I tell him I've decided it turns out it's best that we actually do go through insurance. So he messages me saying "okay, his manager/office will need my insurance info...blah...blah..blah. I respond by saying "I will give it to her but I would like to speak with her directly". He gets very defensive about this with a few messages and then calls me. He's going off about how I don't know the people he works with and it's just best for him to pass on my info instead of speaking with his manager. I say, "okay that's fine, but I'm going to need your your insurance info back." He agrees and says that's he'll send it to me. Next thing I know I get a message from him saying "this whole thing has become to stressful for him and he's just going to pass my info to his manager so she can deal with it". Again, I say, well that's what I suggested before you got all upset about it but yes please do that.

That was Dec 5th, and since then I haven't heard anything from anyone. Personally I think the guy was just to pocket $900.00 bucks from me which is why I was asking in the first place if I should take the gamble.

How long do they have to make a claim a follow up on this?
My guess is you won't hear back from the guy or his insurance company. His boss probably looked at the dent and said it's not worth the effort.

Yeah. Maybe I didn’t title the thread properly, but this is my guess to. Now I’m just wondering how long I have to wait until I know for sure.

And this is why you can’t trust terb members.
Everyone telling me not to go through insurance and pay out of pocket.
I haven’t heard a thing and becoming more apparent the guy was just trying to get 1000 bucks out of me

As a former auto claims adjuster I can tell you that you are at fault.. the insurance companies have an agreement amongst each other not to communicate certain claims where liability is not contentious. In this specific claim the other guys insurance company will make a decision on liability instantly given the circumstances without any investigation, they will fix his car and as long as he provides your plate number he won’t be at fault and pay no deductible. This approach is taken to streamline the claims process and enhance the customer service experience. You really have nothing to worry about . Your insurer would only be involved if there was criminal activity or injuries. In that case everyone’s insurer is notified . For the other guys employer would be covered under scope direct compensation coverage dcpd.. reporting this to your insurer especially if your not claiming for any damages would only make your insurance go up for no reason.. message me if u have further questions

If the damage estimate doesn't exceed $1,500+ not worth going through insurance.
I was rear-ended, slight damage on the rear bumper, a vertical slit about 4 inches in length, was going to let it be as the driver who hit me was a young girl who was crying, however, it was my wife's car so I went for an insurance claim, got 2 estimates. To my amazements, both were for $5,000. as they said the bumper had to be replaced.
