Chinese state broadcaster CCTV is showing world cup matches in China. And people are shocked at the maskless crowds cheering and having fun. Many are wondering if the World Cup is happening on another planet because such scenes are absolutely forbidden in China under the zero Covid policy of the Communist party. As of now, about a quarter of the Chinese population is under some form of quarantine

There are two made in China vaccines. Vetting results have not been provided for international scrutiny. Regardless, only about half of people in China aged 80 and above have received their primary vaccinations, with fewer than 20% of them having secured a booster.
Fewer than 60% of the 60-69 age group is fully vaccinated
