The writer of Idiocracy wrote it as a satire. Now he says it foretold the future.
Watch the movie if you have not seen it.

Idiocracy is a good term for the last 4 years. The library is slow these days, but I'll see what I can do...
"Fuckery" is more like it.

EDIT: My mistake. I wasn't sure if you were referring what was happening in Canada (with this being a Canadian website), or what's happening in my neck of the woods in 'murica.

Absolutely love this movie! It came out 10 years too soon in 2006, would have been perfect if it came out in 2016.

Every country has its nitwit legions.
USA has by far the most overconfident Dunning-Kruger style nitwits.

thx , I missed that movie in 2006 . Not on netflix - listed on pirate bay. I remember watching a documentary .
2 million
minutes . High School seniors compared from ; India , China and USA. The only area that Americans excelled - conceit - self confidence.

As of this moment, the Toronto Library has 5 copies, and 18 holds.
It appears to be available on Amazon Prime.

Based on those few minutes, I'm surprised the film hasn't been banned as a hate film that promotes eugenics and disparages unhealthy poor people, yet.

Likely just a matter of time.
Who has seen the movie Americathon ? This was a satire, made in 1979. The premise is that America has run out of money, and the country has 30 days to pay back the billionaire who loaned America his money. So the White House staff decide to have a telethon to raise the cash.
The future year was 1998.

I heard the movie studio decided this was too close to home, and after a very short run, they pulled it from the theaters. Jay Leno has a small part. John Ritter plays the president. Find it and watch it.

Another example of America becoming a super power without trying.

I've wanted to watch Idiocracy but Justin Long is in it. He's the actor most likely to get tea-bagged.

I must have seen at least six Seano films before I saw my first 007. His most controversial transitional film is Wrong is Right.

It was a bomb at the box-office, it was too disturbing. Stinging black comedy directed by Richard Brooks (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, In Cold Blood).

Thanks, was able to reserve a copy. Library is so slow these days though. Sometimes a week or two...

What part of comedy don't you understand? Most laughs since "Clerks"...

Still around, still a waiting list. Was the beginning to close to home, or to much of a parody of "Birth of a Nation"? They oughta remake that one and bring it forward some...

Great and smart film.
Those who have a brain, understand satire is comedy, some of the best, hammer on the head type.
People that don't get it are the same that thought Stephen Colbert was an ignorant biggot. Feel pity for those types of people. Some people are just easily entertained by Tosh.0, Kardashians, and those home video fail type shows.
Sadly I think the number of those types of people with that mentality is growing.
