the previous lockdowns did not stop the spread of the virus it only delay the spread...
...and thereby not overwhelm the health care system.

C-man gotta read the article. These hospitals were shuttered before the virus. The issue was the cost involved in reopening them.

New York would have been overrun if not for Cuomo's decisive imposition of regulations and restrictions.

Florida is on the verge of being overwhelmed because of the covidiot governor (I suspect you approve his approach) De Santis. Over 40 hospitals are at capacity.

So it is a very real possibility, and as you've already agreed:

That is one of the goals. Glad you agree that the strategy works.

Article from April 2nd. The abandoned hospital in Philadelphia had been stripped of equipment and beds, etc., so yeah a bit difficult to "reopen" and would have needed the appropriate Department of Health approvals.

You also seem to think the "first wave" has ended and we're in the second...

Yeah, right.......
real pandemics don't require faulty virus models, rigged test results, inaccurate reporting, and inflated and manipulated death statistics

No but but conspiracy nuts will search the remote regions of the internet to find an alternative reality that bucks common sense and eagerly seize these preposterous falsehoods to embellish their boring life.

I know Canada-man is simply reporting this aberration that he saw but just think that there are actually real people who preach that hundred of thousands doctors, scientists, politicians lied, companies lost billions intentionally and people from every walk of life were devastatingly affected with lost ones so they could participate in a grand joke. For those people believe this shit I don't know if I should pity the world they live in or be upset that they show so much indifference to people's suffering.

If Canada-man had not shed light on this dark corner of humanity, I never would have thought it possible. Canada-man you do us a service teaching us about these bizarre concepts you find on the internet.

Cuomo is responsible for 100's of deaths when he ordered nursing homes to take back in Covid-19 positive residents. He may have eventually got things right but only after exhausting all other options.

Which, for the record only makes the other governors in newly hit states even worse. They had the example. And repeated the mistakes.

Which is the point I was attempting to convey. c-m stated that "hospitals were empty". But not in NY.

I don't think Cuomo had any control of all the flights coming into to NYC from Europe. That was the initial source of Covid on the east coast. At that point, there was very little established protocol as to how to contain it. Covid was a brand new phenomenon. So it can be understood if some errors were made. He did not, however make decisions based on politics.

I understand if you cannot give him credit without taking a shot or two. trump supporters do not do that.

It just me hitting him. And his little victory lap with a poster is telling.

As well he said in an interview that he in not responsible in any way for what happened in the state.
In this he is very much passing the buck.

As to Trump his response is abysmal. And in a just world criminal. But so are the governors and Congressional lawmakers in that category The whole USA response is a tragedy.

From a Canadian's perspective, I feel that aside from the abysmal leadership, a very large part of the blame lies with the American people. Unlike Canadians, known as being so polite, we are also more compliant as opposed to so many Americans who just do NOT want to be told what do. Every little thing is an infringement of their civil liberties. I understand that personal freedom is an important aspect of American life, but to rebel so strongly against a game plan that will clearly diminish the havoc that they are enduring reminds me of the old saying, "cutting off your nose to spite your face". It is not in their psyche to just be meek and compliant for any reason whatsoever.

As much blame lies at their feet as it lies anywhere else.

If you think that Trump is the head and not Congress you aren't paying attention. Congress and Governors control domestic matters far more than the president.
