That's a big sucker !! A beauty. He butchered and ate the thing. The cat had it coming, terrorized the community ate all kind of pets.

Former Denver Broncos defensive lineman Derek Wolfe tracked and killed a 200-pound, 8.5-foot mountain lion that was terrorizing a Colorado community with nothing but a bow and arrow.

Wolfe said the huge animal had been "wreaking havoc" in a rural neighborhood and had already killed two dogs.

"I got a call from a good friend of mine… and he called me and said, 'Hey, there's a cat up here. You want to come help?' And I said, Yeah, let's go," he explained Monday on "Tucker Carlson Tonight.

"So we get up there and the first thing we see is a full-grown mule deer that he had drug across the road, right across the street from somebody's house. And then we followed those tracks up to his porch. It was up on this woman's porch, living underneath of her porch, even. And when we had talked to the landowner, they said, ‘Hey, we have house cats. And the cats are acting weird.’"

Wolfe told host Tucker Carlson he took hunting dogs with him to track the animal and hiked over 9,600 feet to kill it.

"I've been through some tough training camps, brother, but this hunt was – man – it beat me up bad. I was beat up bad. I'm all cut up and scraped up. I was in full-body cramps [and] barely made it up there," he said.

"I was able to make a good shot, [a] good ethical shot, [and] harvested the cat and got him out of there and did everything by the book. This was completely legal. [Colorado Parks and Wildlife] CPW came down and checked the cat. And for me, I took the meat and got it processed. I'm going to eat that cat."

The Superbowl 50 champion shared that he has received some backlash over the kill but reiterated it was entirely a "legal hunt."

CPW told the Denver Post Wolfe is a licensed hunter who is in good standing with the state.

Mountain lion season runs from November 28, 2022 – March 31, 2023, according to CPW. More than 2,000 hunters participated in last year's season.

The problem with slaughtering an apex predator, it allows prey to run amok.

Part of Colorado's water problem is the lack of wolves and mountain lions. That's allowed deer to run amok, stripping the landscape of vegetation and eating all the saplings. Ate all kinds of pets, so what. The cougar was still more valuable alive than as bush meat. The Colorado River is drying up partially due to erosion at it's source. Deer are giant rats that carry Lyme Disease, any wonder that the disease is spreading when predators are senselessly killed off.

That cougar should have been tagged and tracked, stupid humans.

On reflection I Agreed and not killed anyone. Sam effort could have had it moved. That being said In a life for death situation Potentially I'm more flexible.

Mountain lions have also killed humans. And maybe if you had a loved pet get killed in front of your eyes by one of these predators you may be singing a different tune.

They generally don't kill people or pets downtown. When people clear cut and build into their back yard with resulting loss of habitat and natural food sources for them, they tend to get desperate.

It is what it is....once an apex predator get's too close to humans, there is no turning back...they will keep coming and it's only a matter of time before it kills someone..

Or once humans get too close to an apex predator there's no turning back. They keep coming and it's only a matter of time before the animals pay the price and get killed. In this case the guy bragged that he tracked it for 9000 feet. presumably into the mountains. So who's bothering who? Anyway. Sure his heart is in the right place. Nice picture. Holding up a carcass like a trophy looking self satisfied.

Don't get me wrong....I totally agree with you. There laws on naturals resources has to change. I used to hunt but totally off limits on predators like bears or wolves because despite their spot o the food chain, their population still depleted because the hunt for prey gets tougher and tougher and they are in competition with humans....even with their prey...heck even salmon is depleting because of game fishing....Apex predators should be of limits to hunting....because their numbers are dwindling....but.any predators the gets too close to human population should be dealt with right away....

Like I said. The human population is moving into their limited territory. Squeezing them out and making them desperate. This guy tracked the animal 9000 feet, which I assume is altitude. So the cat was trying to isolate. In normal circumstances they want as little to do with humans as possible. Having their natural habitat invaded by humans, cutting down the trees. Evicting all the animals which were the food source of the big cat. Building houses and streets where the animals used to roam, could be seen as the animals being terrorized.

Thank you for the myopic reply Kirk.

It's extremely rare that mountain lions kill humans unless trapped. Cougars are in tune with their environment while pets and humans are invasive species. You own a pet be responsible for it, a mountain lion is only doing what it must.

Those who deny climate change are doomed to succumb to it, virologists claim that a new pandemic could rise up within the next three years. The planet is so degraded that nature is attempting to cull the parasite beast...and nature always wins.

The Conquistadors gave the Aztec smallpox, in return the America's Indians gave the Europeans Montezuma's Revenge (syphilis). The disease caused the rollback of the Renaissance and a sequence of disastrous religious wars.

Not wrong
Lots of people love all of natures creatures. If we are going to destroy the planet (increasingly good chance) shouldn't we want to take all of our furry friends with us?

It's far from that....we dont' really know how all of these scenarios came down....Mountain lion found itself too close to human community, killed 2 pets...went back to it's habitat...we dont' know if it killed 2 pets at one time or was it 2 different occasions....if he came back for a 2nd serving, he will most likely keep coming back for more as he found a new honey hole...if this guy tracked him down he is within his limit if he had the license to h unt mountain lions...these are special license tags because hunting license for bears, lions and wolves are special tags...they are limited too....if we follow Canadian restrictions (not sure about Colorado). If he hadn't tracked down this beast, the game warden will most likely do it anyways. Like I said...it's sad that this has to happen but once an apex predator gets comfy around humans....it's game over.

Humans encroach on habitat. Food source becomes scarce to the point of disappearing. What's an animal to do? Mountain lion didn't find itself too close to human community as you put it so casually. Human community found itself too close to wildlife habitat. Animal loses out every time.
Just watched a doc on Alaska Grizzlies. Two guys camped out and observed them for a summer. There was a desperate struggle for survival. Mother bear and 3 cubs were fighting each other for one fish they could occasionally find. The whole bear population seemed to be frantic because the salmon run wasn't happening. Why? Camera panned out to the ocean. Hundreds of fishing boats from around the world were catching all the salmon in nets, with no regard for anything other than their own profit. Meanwhile the bears were left starving.

I didn't put the scenario casually...there have been reports prior to the hunt for the mountain lion...If that's not the case then that's just wrong to kill that beast...again if that's the 2nd time that beast came close to the community, it won't be a two-fer...it's coming back...encroaching by humans have been happening for thousands of years...they aren't stopping now.
