Now that we are able to move to a point in time where the media can separate COVID from Trump, we are seeing this issue blow-up. I for one think it's best this gets investigated inside and out with the obvious non-cooperation of the Chinese. I don't think lives would have been saved in 2020/2021, but if there was negligence and malfeasance let's try to end dangerous policies and practices.

zoonotic spillover originating in the lab - not very likely but plausible

You're right, bullshit spin from the media has made people believe there is evidence of a lab leak. There isn't anything other than a couple of coincidences that are worth looking further into.
Biden and the administration has not claimed it was a lab leak; they are investigating to see if it's a possibility.
