It now seems this is coming to fruition after all. Rumor has it that Eric has signed with Toronto for 1.5M plus bonuses for one year with an option for a second year!

1.5 is a lot?

They gave frigin Domi 1.25

Along with Allison, this risk could have huge rewards. I'll settle for half a Lindros over Clarke Wilm anyday.

I'm no authority on this, but the guys on the FAN were saying that Lindros has actually been pretty reliable and productive over the past 2-3 seasons. High risk? Maybe. But for the small amount they'll potentially have to pay him (what, half a million more than Domi?!?), I'd risk it. Especially since he really wants to play in Toronto.

For only $1.5M, he`s definitely worth the risk. Everyone seems to be forgetting how dominant he was before the injuries. If those are truly behind him, then this is a great move for Toronto.

What I don`t understand is why everybody says this is a bad move because of his frequent injuries, yet at the same time everyone applauds Bobby Clarke for giving over $7M to a player who`s just as injury prone.

It's a very good move. Domi has the presence to make others not try to take out Lindros and as long as Lindros keeps his head up theres no reason why he cant have a good season. I like the fact they only signed him for 1 year.
DOMI WILL PICK WHO HE WILL FIGHT NOW
HE IS NOT A INFORCER ANYMORE
#2 WILL HAVE TO DO THAT NOW

He's had 8 career concussions and before he went to New York, Philly gave up on him and his doctors advised him to quit to protect his health. He even had 2 concussions with the Ranger's, and the final one forced him to miss the final 31 games during the 2003-04 season.

If he signs a contact, it will be in the $1 million - $1.5 million range. But he will have a chance to receive more in bonuses. In other words, he will have a contract that is very similar to Jason Allison's. Jason Allison is a better signing though because when he has played the past 3 seasons he has been more effective. Also, Lindros is a liability because of his concussions. Who knows how many games he'll play, and his consussions were a major headache in New York and especially Philly.

I'm sure Pat Quinn will love recieving calls for Bonnie and Carl every day about why Eric isn't getting more ice time, etc.

It was worth picking up Lindros if they can get him at 1.5, but I think he'll bring a lot of headaches (pun intended) to the team.

Lindros a defenseman?

-Leafs After Lindros… as a defenseman?

Reports out of the Fan 590 suggest that the Toronto Maple Leafs are inching closer to signing the "Big E"…. as a defenseman.

It seems rather atypical, Lindros playing defense. But he certainly has all the tools. Lindros has an effective combination of size and skating ability, and played some defense in his junior years. As Lindros reaches the later stages of his career, converting him to a defenseman sounds a little audacious, but also adventuresome. After all he is the type of defenseman the Leafs need, but cannot get for the right price off the UFA market. Lindros' price has been named at a very reasonable figure, and with the expected signing announcement of Jason Allison, he is better off on the blue line then centering our third line.

But I still believe our best use of resources is to do some position juggling up front. If Sundin is willing to play the wing, we could see a very offensive top line of Sundin-Lindros-O'Neill. While Allison should have no troubles centering the second line, with Stajan falling in behind on the 3rd.

I'm hearing that the deal is dead now.
Lindro's fainted when he found out the Leaf's wanted to use him on the blueline. He just got another concussion.

I really don't get it why can't E change his playing style. That seems to me why he's had so many concussions. He's seems to get run over with his head down all the time. But who knows, its not like I've watched many of his games just replays of his injuries.

But for the price and short contract its not that bad of a risk.

If the rumours are true, it's agood deal. The bonuses kick in next year if he earns them this year. If that happens it means he had a very good year. If he is just ok, then the risk is minimal. Like with Allison it appears to have a lot of upside, with a tolerable risk level.
As for Domi, Sheik is right, he still is a presence around the league, he stands up for his teammates , and is a deterrent.
