I wonder why City did not start Greelish
To quote Terry Jones, "because he's a fuckin coach killer that's why".

Never bet against Carlo Ancelotti in the Champions League, he's going for his 6th Championship.

Halaaaa Madrid!

I can't believe that yesterday bookmakers were offering them at +300 to advance to the finals

No Ramos but also no Karius this time around. Liverpool is the clear favorite but as a neutral, how can I not root for Madrid after what they did this year🇪🇸

I wonder how long Pep can go on like this without actually being held to account for his constant champions league failings. Owners don’t spend billions to just to farm their domestic leagues and carabao cups. They could very well end up trophy-less this season, and in all honesty should be 6 points behind Liverpool in the league right now if not for BS VAR calls that gifted them extra points against Arsenal, Wolves, and especially Everton. They were also 14 points ahead at one stage which would be the biggest lead ever blown if Liverpool pip them to the title.

In recent years they’ve been knocked out of the champions league by 3 prem teams, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea. Last night they were 2 goals up in the 90th minute and still found a way to bottle it after some suspect substitutions. Making Grealish his most expensive signing may have had more to do with trying to attract new fans to the club since he’s trying to become the next Beckham (more interested in his hair snd clothes), and it’s also hindered Fodens development whose been better all along. The last thing they needed was yet another winger from a mid table club. If they were willing to spend 100 mil on Grealish, why not spend an extra 50 mil on Kane for a position they actually needed?

When he won the champions league with Barca about a decade ago they had most of the 3 tournament winning Spanish team plus prime Messi. Then he took over a treble winning Bayern team consisting of most of the World Cup winning German team and failed to win the UCL with them, before moving to city, spending billions and failing year after year. Meanwhile this will be Klopps 3rd UCL final in the last 5 years. I would say Liverpool are slight favourites, not clear favourites In the final this time around.

What a come back Real. City almost dominated the first game. This second game City sucked, poor attacking, DeBryne was inactive it almost seemed fixed. I'm tired of Real or Barca winning but I have to respect that they worked hard and never stopped. Liverpool is going to be tougher than City.

This is interesting

Of Guardiola’s 11 eliminations from the Champions League, going back to the first in 2009-10, a huge eight have seen periods that have involved flurries of goals conceded or astounding collapses.

  • 2009-10 Inter Milan semi-final 2 goals in 13 minutes
  • 2014 Bayern Munich semi-final 3 goals in 18
  • 2015 Barcelona semi-final 3 in 17
  • 2017 Monaco last 16 2 in 8
  • 2018 Liverpool quarter-final 3 in 19
  • 2019 Tottenham Hotspur quarter-final 2 in 3
  • 2020 Lyon quarter-final 2 in 8
  • 2022 Real Madrid semi-final 3 in 6
It seems that Pep is so obsessed with “control” that his players don’t know how to handle it when a match is out of control at the highest level. His teams on the domestic level are always so financially dominant that they don’t experience this “loss of control” enough throughout the season.

There was some very inconsistency in the officiating of this match. Cannot believe how Casemiro was even on the pitch for more than half an hour. His constant deliberate and blatant intentional fouls would never have had him get away from these actions in a Premier Division match. Of course subsequently other players were doing the same and this referee was far too lenient that it resulted in several confrontations and loss of discipline between players throughout the match. Comparing that with a Europa Cup quarter-final match between West Ham and Lyon where a gentle tug resulted in a red card to West Ham's Cresswell after Moussa Dembele took that dive and winked after he was awarded the foul. Well one of these days the FA should lay more stringent guidelines to remove the levels of tolerance as regards the disciplinary actions by the officials.

I have seen several VAR decisions going against mid and lower table clubs in the Premier Division. Arsenal got away with a win after their goal keeper put in a very dangerous tackle. Yet the player trying to avoid that tackle that could have resulted in a severe injury, was penalized and yellow carded for "diving". Terrible decision, but from the free kick awarded to Arsenal, they eventually scored and won that game. But VAR chose not to intervene as it did not occur in the box. Yes, Man City did benefit from such VAR decisions, but so do teams like Liverpool, Man United and Tottenham. Teams further down the rung always seem to be at the receiving end of some strange VAR decisions.

But as a neutral, the final in France will be fascinating. Half of me wants Liverpool and the other half is in alignment with Real Madrid.

I have a question.

Why do players take off their jersey after they have scored a goal?

When did that tradition start, and why?

I think Jessica...er..Brandi Chastain started it in the women's WC. At least they're not sucking their thumbs like Robinho and Totti.

What is the Liverpool Investment Group up to? Shouldn't they be content with what they have. I don't see Jeao Felix coming to Milan, although he'd become a superstar playing for Pioli. Simeone is a great coach but he can stifle individual talent.

Is Harry Maguire a better defender than Fikayo Tomori, with Kjaer injured, he's been a rock for Milan's defense.

The Kentish/Nigerian's Italian is outstanding...better than mine.

Its a emotional thing, I've seen the women do it too. I wonder when it started, but its a guaranteed yellow card. Not a smart thing.

Moving back on topic from the silly question. The title race is still open going into Sunday, although it’s unlikely Man city will drop points at home to Villa who have a terrible record against the top clubs this year. The added twist is Stevie G and Coutinho now being a part of the Villa setup. Villa also have a Thursday night match against relegation scrappers Burnley, while City have an entire week to rest.

Frustrating how the title will almost certainly be decided by that blatant Dias handball non var call against Everton posted on the last page. LiVARpool? More like VARchester City.

These German fans are a bunch of violent thugs. First they gathered in the thousands and tried to fight visiting west ham fans during the semi final match between Frankfurt and West Ham and had to be held back by police. Yesterday they managed to brawl with Rangers fans in Seville, throwing chairs and bottles at them.

From the overhead view they seemed to outnumber the rangers fans by about 10 to 1.

I only know that it's since 2004 that you get booked a yellow card for it. Never found when that started.

I played soccer until my early 20's. You get so emotional playing soccer. Goals are so rare you get nuts when you score one (or your teammates).

Hence all these crazy celebrations.

The only goal I scored and did not celebrate like a freaking idiots was the first time I had a girlfriend who came watching my game 😷

I like LFC but it looks like it'll be a repeat of a previous season, one draw too many...
It'll take a miracle for Aston Villa to win at the Etihad, they'd be lucky if MC don't put 4 or 5 past them.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Man city are 2-0 up after the first 10 minutes.

It will be interesting at the other end of the Table, between Burnley and Leeds United. Both teams are on identical points but Leeds have a horrific goal difference as compared to Burnley.
Leeds fans can only hope and pray that Burnley gets beaten, and their own team does manage to grab at least a point.

Too bad for Leeds, when the going gets tough their defense just collapses, 78 goals and counting, 2nd only to Norwich,
I'll pick Burnley.

This is where MC shines, score first then keep possession for the rest of the game,
only LFC, Tottenham and Crystal Palace have been able to adapt so far, hoping more teams do so next season.
