Reigning FA Cup Champions Leicester City won the Community Shield beating the reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City by 1-0. A penalty in the final minutes made the difference.
Jack Grealish the 100 Million Pounds signing by Man City did not make an impact when he was brought on as a substitute.

The Full Season is all set to commence this coming Friday. Difficult to predict who will be the winners of this Premier League in 2022.
Of course Manchester City are the favourites. Man United and Liverpool will be in contention. Cannot see Chelsea winning it though once again they could finish in the top four.
Atalanta who impressed in the Serie A by finishing 3rd were beaten when they played 6th place West Ham in the Betway Cup. 2-0 was the final score.

My tenant a West Ham fan watched this game and she was delighted with West Ham's performance. She recorded it and I watched it later on.

With Messi expectedly now signing for PSG, there is a remote possibility that Man City will try to swoop in to sign Harry Kane the GBP 120 million Tottenham Hotspurs striker before the Summer Transfer Deadline. Kane has expressed a desire to leave although he has finally showed up for training prior to the Spurs v Man City fixture this oncoming weekend.
Have to see how that one pans out.

Personally I don't really give a hoot who wins this seasons PL, only a fool would bet against one of Chelski, Man City, Man Utd or Liverpool not winning it. Gone are the days of the 'big 6' and Liverpool are in danger of becoming an 'also ran' unless VVD and Gomez come back strong. My focus will be on my beloved Burnley's involvement in our annual battle for survival within the the mini 'relegation league'. This seasons contenders will possible be Burnley, Norwich, Watford, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Wolves.

Well I agree that the relegation battle can become interesting as it is normally a bitter fight until the final game at the end of the Season. However, this past season was a done deal months before when the gap between Fulham, West Brom, Sheffield United and the rest of the pack was like night and day. The actual interesting part to me and my tenant was the fight for a European Champions League, and Euro Cup spots. That went on close to the wire and Liverpool really came in strong to earn a place in the top four. Unlike previous Seasons really Leicester should have grabbed a spot as well, as Chelsea automatically qualified being the winners of the Euro Champions Cup. But then the rules changed, and anyway my tenant and I were ecstatic that West Ham got a Euro Cup spot ahead of Tottenham. This Season Tottenham are in the brand new third tier Euro Conference Cup. That is why Kane wants an exit, but may be involved in the match against Man City....... the club he reportedly wants to join before the end of this transfer window.

If the Kane deal goes through then it looks like ManCity will have bought themselves another title

European football needs a salary cap.
For sure salaries should be capped to make it a level playing field. There are certain FA regulations that are put in place and that is why Barcelona and Messi had to part company in addition to bigger deficits. This is why these giant teams wanted to start a European Super league. That would have meant even more revenues on paper as they would have got a bigger slice of the TV coverage. Thankfully the fans decided to have no part of it especially in England.

Has anyone tried this English Fantasy Premier League Competition:

Pick Your Squad
Use your budget of £100m to pick a squad of 15 players from the Premier League.

The dead line is 1.5 hours before the first match tomorrow between Brentford v Arsenal.

The pitiful and dubious EPL

Desperate. Outmatched. Insecure. Decaying.

Watching it fall apart year after year after year after year...

Such as pleasure!!

If not interested in the EPL, then who cares. It is still the most watched sport globally. A fact, and it will never ever "decay"!!

Brentford really has ruffled Arteta's feathers with a 2-0 win over Arsenal. That Club is notorious for scouting some real talents for a steal and selling them for quite a profit.
No doubt there was quality in the squad in the manner in which they competed for every single ball. A deserved win. Wonder how high they will finish this season?

Man City with their GBP 100 million signing Grealish were beaten by Spurs, in spite of Harry Kane being left out of the squad. Man City look like they are going to sign him for another record breaking GBP 120 million. That is insane. However, Guardiola did leave a number of their stars on the bench and brought on the likes of Jesus and De Bruyne a bit too late in the match. All Spurs had to do was resolutely defend their precarious one goal lead that they accomplished with comparative ease. However, Kane is included in Tottenham's third tier EUFA Conference League Cup tie against some minions called Pacos de Ferreira:

If he does play for Spurs, then he may not be eligible to play for Man City in the EUFA Champions League Matches. A big concern for the Man City fans.

PSG not done yet, going after CR7 and Pogba while the transfer window is still open. Juve may be fishing CR7 if they believe they have a clear shot at signing Mbappe or Haaland. Messi has a history of eating young players, Mbappe wants to leave.

It's beautiful to fail upwards. Grealish refused to take a penalty then throws Southgate under a bus...then gets a $139 million transfer fee to join ManCity. Is he Irish, they don't seem to have much love for him in the Emerald Isle.

Daniel Levy is correct, Harry Kane is twice the player and man that Jack Grealish is, so if the former Villa player is worth $139 million, Kane is worth $260 million...City can afford it.

The difference between Italy and England, the Azzurri do not throw their teenagers into the pressure cooker. Both Scamacca and Pellegri stayed with the U21. Pellegri is four months older than Bukayo.

Pellegri appears to be moving to Ac Milan unless ManU swoop in.

Kane got on for just a few minutes as a sub. To me he looked a bit disinterested, and I still think that he will move on to City before the transfer window shuts.
I hope that a team that does not spend the big bucks wins the EPL like Leicester did a few seasons ago. Talking about Leicester who beat Man City for The Community Shield, well they really got spanked by West Ham 4-1. A bit controversial with Perez being sent off after a potential ankle breaking tackle. Not sure why the Leicester players were trying to dispute that decision. To me West Ham look like a team that can score freely this season especially as they have racked up 8 goals in two games.
