For the first time a Kennedy has lost a race in Mass.

It was a rebuke of ambition and Nancy Pelosi as she had endorsed Kennedy despite her policy of hindering primary challengers. Of course this only applies to conservative ones and not Progressive ones.

Another real Progressive will continue and be motivated to push the envelope.

Lol. Compared to Kennedy yes. Especially because Pelosi interfered in the primary. And while I disagree with his vote on Iraq without reservation, he has at least recanted it. Regrets it, and has worked on progressive causes regularly.

Biden wrote the Crime Bill and the Patriot Act. And hasn't recanted about his Iraq war vote. Just made excuses for it.

There is a great divide between the two and how they govern.

Markey is the very pinnacle of Establishment, he has been there forever. A bunch of the Dem Establishment power players supported him.

Lol. He is for the Green New Deal. Supports Medicare for all.

Is the win as important as say AOC or Cory Bush or Jamaal Bowman. Probably not. But he is a better ally to Progressive causes in the Senate that Kennedy would be. Pelosi trying to primary him out says it all.

You can play these games if you like. The split in the party structure scares you. You probably have a stake in the status quo. Pelosi is old. Her grip is slipping.

What does Pelosi have to even do with it? Does she have magical fucking powers?
No. A well liked incumbent beat a primary challenger whose record wasn't significantly different.
The incumbent, as usual, had most of the establishment behind him. The challenger, being a fucking Kennedy, got some establishment support as well.
They were barely different on policy.
It was always a joke that this race turned into a national chew toy and re-cast as "Progressive vs Establisment/Centrist" when they are both Establishment as it gets.
