Durham Regional Police have arrested a man in Richmond Hill for allegedly recruiting a young woman into the sex trade.
Durham police said in a news release on Monday that a 23-year-old woman came forward to police about a man she met in her workplace who was trafficking her.
Police said the woman claimed he would set up dates and then take all of her money.
Rouzbeh Karimkhani, 37, was arrested Wednesday in Richmond Hill. He is charged with trafficking in persons by exercising control, financial benefit trafficking person over 18 years of age, and advertising another person’s sexual services.
Karimkhani was held in a bail hearing and police are currently searching for his whereabouts.
Durham police believe there may be other victims as Karimkhani has ties to York Region, Peel Region and Toronto.
