Why bother posting this? We all know he's a liar. His defenders aren't going to stop defending him no matter how many misdeeds you point out.
Sunk costs.

They've all invested too much in that corrupt moron now to admit they are wrong.
Even when they know they feel they have to keep defending their decisions.
So its fun to remind them.

I am no fan of Trump.
he is an egomaniac and his abrasive personality was ill suited for the position

however I suspect his promise to donate his salary was conditional on his retaining the job

Pish posh, not a shock. I mean, the salary didn't cover a fraction of what he billed the Secret Service to protect him at the various Trump resorts he went to every weekend. Plus golf cart rentals and other jazz. It's actually shocking how much of a grift this presidency was.

For sure, a lot of them spent significant money on MAGA hats, Trump flags and all the crap they hawk on shows like Mark Levin. They can't just face the truth that they also have been swindled...

he does not have discretion over the assignment of the Secret Service to protect the president or former presidents
you can fault him for golfing too much, but not for wasting the Secret Service resources,
that has been in place for a long time i.e. jfk or longer

There are some seriously ridiculous rules that come with being a former American president. A former president has to establish a presidential library, they're allowed virtually no privacy, and they're surrounded by Secret Service agents every hour of the day. In what's possibly the most annoying rule former presidents have to follow, they aren't even allowed to drive themselves. No trips to the grocery store in the middle of the night when they have the munchies. No slipping out to just, well, get out of the house (and don't most of us feel that way lately?). None of the normal stuff that goes with being an independent adult.
that is for former presidents
i would assume even tighter protocol's for a sitting president who has access to the football. ie nuke launch codes

Really? It's fun? Driving that wedge deeper. Driving more people to dig in their heels. It's assholery is what it is.

He charges full rate to the usss...But it's his right and no begrudging the security. Making them spend it all in trump properties, charging retail rates...infecting 800 of them...yes, a problem.

I think the giving up $400k per year as a stunt figuring he'll make more than that through forced stays at trump properties and in shady written donations (how many millions to fight the steal that he's NOT spent?). He came out just fine.

I'm not saying he shouldn't have been protected. But, there is a big difference between Trump going to his properties and charging the Secret Service for room and board AND golf carts. No other president has ever done that. Are you telling me Trump couldn't have waived the cost? I suspect (and I have no proof of this) that if he went to nearly any hotel or what not they would give the agents either a free room or a highly discounted price. Trump did neither. So, every time he visited Mar-A-Largo or his other courses he made a profit off of his visit. That, my friend, sounds a hell of a lot like a grift.

The only way they will understand they backed a crook is to keep providing them evidence that can eventually overturn their confirmation bias.
The fact that it is fun just means I'll keep helping them.

You have a better, and nicer plan?
