Not surprising to anyone who actually watched the riot. Trespassing, some property damage, maybe an assault or two. Still no justice for Ashli Bobbitt, though. Another manufactured "outrage" by the completely compromised media unable and unwilling to stop and think before reporting news. Oh, yeah and Nancy impeached Trump over this. That's got to be the greatest joke of them all. ROFLMFAO!!

Are you surprised that the media use of the term sedition to describe people attempting to stop the functioning of the government and the legal definitions of the terms are different?

Yes... of course.... it was a church picnic..... LOL. Don't be absurd. The morons who broke into the building should have been shot. They weren't there for Pence's autograph. Imagine if they had actually reached Pelosi.

Yes the capitol cops are crybabies when they say 140 officers were injured by trespassers wearing body armour carrying weapons and zip ties...
It's just Oracle doing his thing. He's found yet another Far Right website, this one claiming to specialize in "legal issues". Essentially, the website attacks "woke liberals", unfair "fake media" and the outrageous assault on decent white people everywhere. So cue the usual ranting, cherry-picked facts and carefully chosen statistics from the "journalists" who write for the site.

Just another day in the TERB right-o-sphere.

None of the January 6 rioters have been charged with sedition. But it's far easier and less time-consuming for the Feds to use the same acts and evidence to prove assault and related crimes which will probably generate the same prison sentences in return for far less prosecutorial effort. End of story.

Exactly. Prosecution 101. Charge what you can hold. Investigate further. Add charges as evidence warrants. This was one of the most hideous events in US history. The pliable conservative blogosphere, consisting of chickenshit weenie men, mercenaries, and con men all capitalising on it. The old fashioned conservatives who have honour and standards - Kinzinger, Romney, Cheney, the Georgia election officials - all marginalised and attacked. In fact DJT's greatest vitriol reserved for those men of (some) honour who refused to break the law for him (Pence, Raffensberger, even now some McConnell). Pretty cut and dried.

I beg all my conservative friends to read about the rise of the Third Reich. If that's too hard, read Timothy Snyder's book On Tyranny: 20 lessons from the 20th century. Takes 2 hours max to read. It is becoming clear the majority of the US Republican party no longer believes in democracy.

LOL!!!! Easier?? They have the video footage in HD and the "rat" evidence not to mention the electronic surveillance. Three months and everything the most powerful intelligence agencies and LE could muster; the most powerful nation on the planet and with the full backing of the government, the Congress and the fellating media. And the "end of the story" is a garden variety riot. Talk about a mountain shaking and straining...and giving birth to a mouse. Days and even weeks of the 24/h coverage, outrage, the epic editorials and even AOC's tears. ROFLMFAO!!!
Oh, btw.

Only a riot to overturn an election and disrupt a legal process. Nothing to see here.

I should check the Snyder book out. I couldn't handle reading his book about the Holodymyr and passed it up. But I enjoyed his commentary on the 2014 Russian / Ukrainian conflict and Euromaidan a lot.

The moment you said Dick Cheney has honor and standards you completely lost me. As an Architect of the Iraq War and profiteering bastard with his Halliburton connections he wasted thousands of real lives for money and other good reason.

Its because of men like him the USA is in its present horrible state.

I think Kherg was comparing Cheney to a Gaetz or Graham or Jordan, not to a nice, acceptable human being. Just trying to sort that one out for both of you.

Well that settles everything...there were all just hugging and kissing each other...what were they thinking with 400 plus arrests!

One is a rotten apple, the other a rotten orange. Both belong in the green bin. Dick Cheney is imo directly responsible for thousands of deaths. Period. I don't care if he did it more politely with a better PR team.

Meant Lynn Cheney. Sorry should have been more specific.

I got arrested once while sitting on the bench at a train station because there was a demonstration happening outside. I personally witnessed hundreds of people get arrested in CANADA, on Spadina specifically, for no other crime other than just being there and the fucking cops too lazy or too stupid to familiarize themselves with the Charter. So, if you want to impress me, find another argument beside the number of arrests. Completely meaningless.

Why should people be able to smash through barricades and police lines for the avowed purpose of preventing the vote being certified,, break windows and doors to enter the building, enter and basically ransack the chamber and Pelosi and others offices, attack police officers, shut the Congress down while they are trying to do their constitutional duty.

Why are people making a big deal about this.

Vandalism. Taking shits in the capitol. Stealing laptops. Chanting hang mike pence, the vice president. Spraying bear spray at LE. No big deal. Hardly worth the LE effort. Boys will be boys.

You are the King of False Comparables, JC.

If you're referring to the unfortunate people who got detained and arrested at the time of the G-20 riots in Toronto, we can agree that the cops were incompetent assholes. And they later got wrist-slapped for that.

But the people arrested at that event were innocent. The rioters on 6 January broke through a police barricade, injured cops, shat in the Capitol and hunted members of Congress to lynch them. I'm not seeing the parallel here.
