What reports are reliable? CNN?
This is the dark side of the media, all media - they take a police report and craft a news story around it. That is really their only choice at the start of things, usually. They either take the "facts" that are given by the police, and try to speak to witnesses to corroborate or give an alternative spin. But that is hard to do and takes time. And there aren't always witnesses to what happened, and we should all know by now the unreliability of eye witnesses...The media will update the story as they get more detail. Police rarely re-release an updated report. They might be forced to during a press conference.
Look at the school shooting in Uvalde. The story the police told afterwards fell apart fairly quickly, and it was revised several times. If you don't think that could happen in a situation like this, then you don't know anything.
Now, I will say running from the police is a horrible idea. Car chases can lead to serious injury or death for officers, bystanders and the subject. I read a report years ago that cops get a heightened emotion from these chases because they are so dangerous. They explode the tension through brutality, like Rodney King, for example.
But, here's the thing: cops are not judge, jury and executioner, no matter how much ottawa_cuck wants to pretend. Deadly force is supposed to be used to someone from the imminent threat of causing serious injury to someone, or if they are attempting to flee the scene after causing serious physical injury (like stabbing or shooting someone). From the sounds of it, this did not meet that threshold. I understand they had their dander up because of the dangerous vehicle chase....but shooting that many rounds at someone, especially if they did not have a gun visible, it the definition of overkill. And the fact that nobody else was injured is a blood miracle...
