He already had covid twice. He won in court, this time but he may still be kicked out. What's he going around without a mask if he was positive?

Djokovic pictured maskless at public event one day after positive Covid test

Novak Djokovic faced fresh controversy over his attempt to enter Australia to take part in the Open tennis tournament after pictures emerged on social media of his appearances at public events after a positive Covid test was recorded in mid-December, which allowed him an exemption from the country’s strict Covid rules.

Djokovic has spoken against vaccine mandates but has always refused to say what his own vaccination status is.

He has been kept in a Melbourne hotel since Thursday after his visa was cancelled due to problems with the medical exemption from vaccination granted by the organisers of the Australian Open.

Djokovic faces decision day on Monday as his appeal against the cancellation of his visa gets under way, after which he could be deported from the country.

According to court documents released on Saturday ahead of the hearing, Djokovic’s Covid-19 infection was recorded by the Institute of Public Health of Serbia on 16 December, which provided the basis for the medical exemption he received from the Tennis Australia and Victorian state government medical panels. He was granted his exemption on 30 December.

However, pictures on social media of Djokovic attending indoor events without a mask shortly after his Covid-19 test was recorded raise questions about Djokovic’s infection.

On 16 December, Djokovic attended an event commemorating his own personal stamp. Pictures were posted of Djokovic a day later at the Tennis Association of Belgrade for an award ceremony.

Djokovic was additionally pictured on the streets of Belgrade on 25 December despite Serbia’s rules requiring 14 days of self-isolation.

It is not clear if he knew he had Covid when the earlier pictures were taken.

Djokovic had attended a Euroleague basketball match between Red Star and Barcelona in Belgrade in the days before, during which numerous people present tested positive for Covid-19.

Djokovic’s PR team have told Serbian journalists that they will not be making any statements until after his case.

Since his visa was revoked in the early hours of Thursday morning and he was ordered to leave Australia, Djokovic has been detained in the Park hotel – an immigration detention hotel in Melbourne – as he awaits his hearing.

Come on Australia, kick the bum out of the country.

I guess the only reason that he is now trying to stay in Australia is the fact that he could be banned for three years if deported after having his visa cancelled for the second time.
But he lied and really not self isolating after being tested positive was fully evident as his own family refused to answer those questions posed during their interview.
I agree that he should now agree to leave the country otherwise, there will be two sets of principles. Those that were not even allowed into Australia to see their family members in the last days of their lives during the lockdown was one set of principles. Now if this Tennis star is allowed to stay despite not being eligible to the Australian Entry Visa then there will be an outrage among the majority of Australians.

In other words this whole shitshow has nothing to do with safety, Covid nor science and everything to do with protecting the stupid government and the bullshit it has been peddling for the last two years. Most of all it's about envy that a rich asshole can have his way while good little peons who followed the dictates of their "leaders" got themselves incarcerated for a 2 year sentence.

The gov't set certain standards and protocols that were based on science, research and epidemiology to protect the citizens of Australis.

What this is about is someone who refused to abide by the laws of a sovereign nation, which has the right to enact such laws.

It is a health care issue as well as law and order issue.

He has demonstrated repeatedly that he has nothing but disdain for all covid protocols and has no problem putting others at risk. He's been caught lying, backpedalling and blaming others.

To think that he deserves the benefit of the doubt is laughable because there is no doubt as to his intent.

His intent was to deliberately make the AO, Australia and even the world look like fools. He deserves to be taken down a notch or two and that is simply by being treated equally to everybody else. Turf him.

Game, set and match.

This whole "shitshow" is all of Djokovic's own doing. The Australian Immigration Rules were strict just like New Zealand. That is why they have much lower per capita infections and death rates than all the more advanced nations around the Globe. Again, why are all the Tennis Players coming out to say that they followed the guidelines and want to compete whether he is there or not? Most Australians will be furious if he is going to be given a pass to the Australian Open!!

I almost want to see Novax win his case and be allowed to play in the tournament, just to see the amount of abuse he will take from fans. It could be a very entertaining shit-show. Chair umpires imploring the crowd “Quiet please!….Quiet please!!!” The animosity would be a deserved come-uppan

He should not be upset because he has no one to blame but himself. It was totally avoidable and as a classic covidiot, he got what he deserved.

Can't wait to hear him interviewed as opposed to a statement from his lawyers but I think it may take a few days until that happens. Maybe he'll blame them for losing the case because nothing is his (double) fault.

Little by little the anti-vaxxers and other covidiots are being put in their place. What will it take for the Amigos to see the writing on the wall? When will they realize that resistance is futile unless it is acquiring resistance to the virus.

Get vaccinated. And it will be better to do it on your own rather than get forced to. As you can see, the world has no more tolerance for attitudes like yours.

The 3 year ban is a discretionary decision. I believe that it can be "up to" 3 years.

Medvedev is very good, but I don't think that he has a big enough game to dominate for a long time. IMO his game is not that strong and there are a lot of players that are close to his level. The Big 3 were head and shoulders above the rest of the field.

Are we going to put an asterix next to the name of the winner in the history books?

The arrogance of him is astounding. Did he really think after the nation busted hard on Johnny Depp and Amver Heard over dogs that they would roll over on vaccination status? Esoecually after the lockdown sacrifices they made.

He will be lucky if they don't ban him three years.

It's the fans that are the big losers with this decision.........
Are you stating that a nation's elected Government shouldn't have control over its border policy but judges should?
