Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has officially confirmed that several individuals in quarantine at CFB Trenton have tested positive for COVID-19.
The local public health authority stated in a release that these individuals, who were repatriated from the Grand Princess cruise ship in California last week, have been receiving daily health checks by PHAC nurses.
There is also a Canadian Red Cross dedicated clinic at CFB Trenton, which is providing non-urgent medical care to those staying in quarantine.
HPE Public Health stated those who have tested positive for COVID-19 and their close contacts have been placed in isolation, and are being supported in their recovery by dedicated nurses and all are expected to make a full recovery.
The agency stated it wants to reassure residents that all infection prevention and control protocols have been followed through collaborative measures with government and health partners during the quarantine of the travelers.
HPE Public Health reiterated that the risk of exposure from the quarantined area to the rest of CFB Trenton and the surrounding communities remains low.
The number of travelers that tested positive was not released by HPE Public Health, but previous reports indicated nine of those quarantined have tested positive.
