Somebody ought to start a music related thread which excludes anything prior to 1990. I am as old, or older than most of you, but have a good laugh when people still reference bands like April Wine. Modern, contemporary music is excellent. Download Spotify, pay $9/ mth, and enjoy.
You know, 15 yrs ago...I would have laughed and called you an old fogey.

Now that I’m an old fogey, I’m really really loving discovering “old new music”. Getting the chance to wade through the history of recorded music at my fingertips...

It’s like magic.

I was a record/music junkie when I was in my 20’s, I saw all the best bands i could, even John Lee hooker in London Ontario if you can believe it. I chased down threads of musicians on other albums they played on. Loved the hunt in the record store after an early movie with a date.

But nothing, nothing compares to having so MUCH music to discover through Spotify or iTunes or whatever platform you like. It’s the best thing that’s happened to me in my 50’s.

As another old fogey, does anyone remember the Elvis Presley song "You ain't nothing but a hound dog". It was originally recorded by Big Mama Thornton in 1953 sung in a slow bluesy style.

that is an odd description of LZ being a cover band...they were not......taking other songs , using melodies or exact guitar riffs and claiming them as their own yes....that's called plaigerism not covering and I am a lousy speller

Blinded by the Light, Manfred Mann.

No idea the original was from Springsteen

I think that song was posted either here or the Black Music thread

After the lawsuits, these thiefs gave credits to the original artists through Atlantic Records in some cases so they went from plagerisers to cover artists if one likes semantics.

This is the best version:

I rarely critique other people,s taste in music and you like what you like.....but this version is unbearable....I got to the 42 second mark and quit...….did it get any better?

I knew better when she did her version, but Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" was written and first performed by Dolly Parton in Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

Phil Everly did a great version of Air That I Breathe a year before the Hollies had a big hit with it. It was a cover of an Albert Hammond song.
