I keep wondering what is driving the conservative lurch to fascism, could this be the answer.

Fort Lauderdale is the citadel of Florida's religious right.

Is this gentleman a flakka junkie?

This internet hack (RingofFire LOL!) starts off his argument by suggesting he knows something about the NFL, and then proceeds to make an argument you could only swallow if you knew nothing about the NFL.

Coaches and players spend an incredible amount of their time together - 7 days a week, 16 hours a day, for 8 months of the year in many cases. When you spend that much time with people, particularly under intense pressure and scrutiny, it would be impossible for anyone to hide who they really are. Gruden has been working with black players and staff in this environment for decades. Yet, none of them are coming forward to say "told you so - Gruden was always a racist". Most people who have ever told an insensitive joke, or called someone a derogatory name in anger (sometimes deserved anger) are not real racists - i.e.people who believe, fundamentally, that others are not equal to them based simply on their appearance or racial ancestry, and who are prepared to make decisions of consequence based on that belief.

If Gruden had ever abused a player or staff member because he was black, considering that most players are black, how are there no reports of this, not even from disgruntled players he cut/traded/refused to draft/etc.?

The very notion that the NFL is racist, an institution that makes hundreds of black Americans millionaires every year, and employs a disproportionate number of black players and coaches, seems prima facie preposterous to me.

No, this is just another story about someone who made remarks which, in some other context than the one they were made in (and he never intended to make them in these other contexts), could be taken as offensive.

Somehow, it makes some people feel better to take people down who, like Gruden, are forceful, opinionated and successful. I don't think I'll ever understand why. Gruden was good at his job, and worked effectively with other people of all backgrounds. Somehow that's not what is important to some people.

The Raiders are a joke in the NFL for all their horribly stupid decisions, both on and off the field. This story is nothing but a perpetuation of that story.

Why is Dutchie so upset over John Gruden, the man was a boob. He wanted to be like Bill Parcells but didn't have the gravitas. Nothing to get excited about.

The GOAT POTUS is flexing his man boobs, the GOP are terrified!

LOL!!! That's the society these days. The same people defending Justin are more than happy to crucify someone else for similar sins.

The difference is that there are actual people saying Justin has behaved, in public, like a misogynist, or racist, or all-round jackass, and believe him to hold those views today and continues to act on them. Nobody is pursuing any grievance against Gruden. If you know the history of the Raiders, and of their current owner, you'll know how they managed to (once again) make the wrong decision.

And, of course, Justin is running a country, whereas Gruden is just coaching a bunch of football players who, believe me, are far from shrinking violets or saints (even the ones who play for New Orleans!), and many of whom get paid more than he does and have more pull with management were he to step out of line.

True, but also wholly beside the point. When Tara Reade came out with pretty credible accusations against Biden, the media completely ignored it and buried the story, while the Kavanagh accuser became a celebrity victim who couldn't even remember the year nor the location of the alleged crime. It all comes down to simple utility, nowadays. Hence, I'm completely cynical and skeptical about most of this crap. Just follow Pence and keep your doors open.

Gruden wasn't the best coach in the NFL, but he was a "good" coach who was doing a decent job with that franchise, and is better than most with the media. He won a Super Bowl with Tampa in years gone by. Currently, as a coach, he's somewhere in the middle of the pack - a sizeable distance from "boob" territory.

If there is a coach worth ginning up charges to get rid of, maybe start with Urban Meyer, not Gruden.
