Toronto messed up. Old Maple Leaf Gardens would have been the perfect venue...different floors..a show area..the nostalgia....public transit ...alas...we got a grocery store there...
Huge mistake!
This is not an argument for or against...but IF IT'S COMING...
MAPLE LEAF GARDENS WAS THE PLACE,
Yes, it could have carried on the tradition of people entering the building with high hope and expectations, and leaving feeling disappointed and despondent. This would have been perfect...
For what it is worth, Paul Godfrey said it would create 12,000 new jobs in Toronto plus all the spin-off economic impact. One of my major concerns is the negative social impact of gambling.I'd much rather NO casino be built within the 416.
I don't see how a casino is going to create 12,000 new jobs. One need only look at Niagara Falls (where they are currently laying off hordes of people) to see that that is simply not the case. For what it is worth, Paul Godfrey said it would create 12,000 new jobs in Toronto plus all the spin-off economic impact. One of my major concerns is the negative social impact of gambling.
Great idea Tiberius.I'd be a lot more excited if Toyota or Nissan or Honda announced a new factory was being built in Etobicoke or the like. Not some bullshit casino.
+1 thats all the DT needs is more cars and congestion. Build it somewhere elseI'd much rather NO casino be built within the 416.
Let them build it (or them) somewhere else.
What are your views on opening a casino in Toronto? Good? Bad? Why?
Nicely put. Truth and humour, a good combination.Yes, it could have carried on the tradition of people entering the building with high hope and expectations, and leaving feeling disappointed and despondent.
If it is worth doing Paul Godfrey should have nothing to do with it.
His list of failures Skydome , Jays, Post Media, etc. nothing ever works out except for him.
But next year's the year they finally bring home the Cup. Go Leafs Go!Yes, it could have carried on the tradition of people entering the building with high hope and expectations, and leaving feeling disappointed and despondent.
