Toronto messed up. Old Maple Leaf Gardens would have been the perfect venue...different floors..a show area..the nostalgia....public transit ...alas...we got a grocery store there...

Huge mistake!

This is not an argument for or against...but IF IT'S COMING...

MAPLE LEAF GARDENS WAS THE PLACE,

I'd much rather NO casino be built within the 416.

Let them build it (or them) somewhere else.

If it is worth doing Paul Godfrey should have nothing to do with it.

His list of failures Skydome , Jays, Post Media, etc. nothing ever works out except for him.

For what it is worth, Paul Godfrey said it would create 12,000 new jobs in Toronto plus all the spin-off economic impact. One of my major concerns is the negative social impact of gambling.
I don't see how a casino is going to create 12,000 new jobs. One need only look at Niagara Falls (where they are currently laying off hordes of people) to see that that is simply not the case.

That sounds like Godfrey is pulling numbers out of his ass to me. Most jobs that would be created would be low paying service jobs - casino staff, cleaners, dealers, etc. Minimum wage to 14 or 15 bucks an hour. Sure, there'd be a few high paying jobs, but a few only.

I'd be a lot more excited if Toyota or Nissan or Honda announced a new factory was being built in Etobicoke or the like. Not some bullshit casino.

Great idea Tiberius.

It's about time Subaru established their presence in the GTA. Their vehicles are top notch, now that I'm hooked I'll never drive another brand of car again.

WOODBINE is the place to KEEP IT All they have to do is introduce the tables and its a go Theres plenty of parking TTC etc why not just use what facilities they have and not congest the downtown area. There's enough people there now.
