I saw him at Exhibition place years ago, great concert was 3-4 hours long.

The Boss’ fans won’t be bossed around.

A respected fanzine known as “Backstreets” announced Friday that it will be shuttering the website in protest against Springsteen’s “dynamic pricing” according to an editorial.

“After 43 years of publishing in one form or another, by fans for fans of Bruce Springsteen, it’s with mixed emotions that we announce Backstreets has reached the end of the road,” wrote editor-in-chief Christopher Phillips.

“We are immensely proud of the work Backstreets has done, and we are forever grateful to the worldwide community of fellow fans who have contributed to and supported our efforts all these years, but we know our time has come.”

The fan-run site began its publication in the 1980s and became a go-to resource for fans of Springsteen and his plans. The site also has an international audience as well.

“If you read the editorial Backstreets published last summer in the aftermath of the U.S. ticket sales, you have a sense of where our heads and hearts have been: dispirited, downhearted, and, yes, disillusioned,” wrote Phillips. “It’s not a feeling we’re at all accustomed to while anticipating a new Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band tour.”

The anger from fans comes after the rocker’s manager defended having tickets that went for nearly $4,000.

“Regardless of the commentary about a modest number of tickets costing $1,000 or more, our true average ticket price has been in the mid-$200 range. I believe that in today’s environment, that is a fair price to see someone universally regarded as among the very greatest artists of his generation,” said Jon Landau.

The “Born to Run” singer also defended the rise in prices.

“What I do is a very simple thing. I tell my guys, ‘Go out and see what everybody else is doing. Let’s charge a little less.’ That’s generally the directions. They go out and set it up,” explained Springsteen during a Rolling Stone interview.

I've seen Springsteen over 100 times since 1981, so to say I'm a fan is an understatement.

That said, my tickets to see him in Buffalo in March were over 400 each, which included exchange and stupid Ticketmaster fees. Yes its more than I would have liked to have paid, but in my over 100 shows I can tell you I've paid a lot more for some shows.

$4,000 is ridiculous

How are the seats for 400? Are those the cheapest tickets?

Just grabbed Disturbed tickets for the May 1 show at Scotiabank for a $125 - good seats - opening act is Theory of a Deadman - its not Springsteen but the value is there - $4000 is nuts for any ticket. With that said - there are people who can afford them and there is a market - more power to them until then I will enjoy...

He's not wrong.

Never tough I would agree with Tate. But I do.

I have been to very few concert and did not like it that much.

Festival on the other hand were a lot of fun. An all day concert festival with women dressing in very little is was a lot of fun. Never really care for the music that much except the few time I saw Tragically Hip...

I saw THIS show ^^^^^^, from 17th row on the ice level at the Montreal Forum. Bruce was arms-length away when he sang part of Spirit in the Night in the audience. He was 29 years old, and arguably at his peak as a live performer.

No, thanks.

What gets me is almost $750 USD per ticket for the service fee.

He's always been amazing live. The never ending energy, the stories and you could see the joy and enthusiasm he displayed. There was no doubt that he was having the time of his life. He loved it. And the concerts were long. I'd guess 2.5 to 3 hours.

Was that the Darkness Tour? First show I was was on The River Tour. I agree that he was much better back then, but he's 73 now, and still putting in 3 hour concerts of all energy....

As for current situation with pricing, it's not only Springsteen. Ticketmaster magically sells out of these high profile shows in seconds and tickets end up on their secondary market platform.

I understand that in some countries in Europe, you need to provide ID to buy a ticket to a soccer game. Your name is then put on the ticket and you must show ID that matches the ticket to enter the venue. Maybe thats what we need to do to stop Ticketmaster games.

But we all know what is really amazing live: well reviewed escorts. For four grand, that's the equivalent of 13 hours of joy and enthusiasm. And that's at agency VIP rates!

He puts up a great show, but $1000 or $4000 is crazy. I don't know what's the going price nowadays for other bands.

It's not really a choice. Nobody is worth that much.

I think to properly do the math, it should be about 900-1,000 for each date. Bruce plays for 3 hours, so the 1,000 would be for a 3 hour date.
