Not true. Do you realize how many of these situations go off without a hitch. These are rare circumstances where someone gets shot. It's very dangerous for everyone. There are over 2 million active warrants every day in the U.S.
That article is a good read and I agree with it.
Police really should stop doing no knock warrants and also confronting people in a way that leads to violence.
If they backed off and approached things smarter the danger would be much less.

Glad we could find some common ground in this thread.

Everyone is trapped at home due to COVID and economic collapse and there is an election going on.
It's not surprising.

Also, if you don't want to talk about politics, stay out of the politics section.
It's easy!

Because Facebook isn't an anonymous board about sex and none of us would know each other there.

There are no right wing wingnuts in my social circles, so this is how I find how, or if, they think.

It is good for you that you are happy with the police using war zone tactics in USA.
Not happy, just stating facts. When their gun laws are the way they are. What do you expect? They have no choice but to go in that way. The police in Canada also serve search warrants in Canada the same way in some situations. If it's a drug offence or a criminal with a history of violence they do it the same way. Does that make Canada a war zone?

If they stopped doing it this way more innocent people could get hurt. How do you propose they arrest these violent drug dealers like in this situation? What would your plan be?

I do not believe the police serve warrants this way in Canada.

Plenty of people posting on social media sites of the shit show that was called "the first debate".
It's just convenient to have a political section here, if your'e here for other reasons.

Shouldn't bother you really, I mean, there's a buy and sell section here and sports section, I don't care for them to be honest, so I don't click them.

The problem is that there really ARE violent armed criminals out there and the cops really do have to arrest them, search their shit and enforce the law. And the law has to protect the cops who put their lives on the line in the course of duty.

Breonna Taylor is an example of how badly off the rails this can go. But the question then becomes "on which side do we err?" And I'm probably going to keep protecting the cops on this issue.

But as the article he posted points out, erring on the side of protecting cops would involve doing fewer no-knock warrants.
They are given out too freely, and given out too often. Make them much, much harder to get, insist on them being really necessary, and you will reduce the number of these confrontations that increase the threat.
Arrest people in better, safer circumstances.
