Thank goodness it doesn't happen often but now and then I run into an idiot and a jerk.

I see this guy at the meter getting ready to pay full fare. I offered him my spot at a 50% discount. He declined. That's fine no sweat off my back.

Then, yes then, he said if he were me he would have offered the spot for free. The jerk would have accepted my spot on my dime. What a jerk!

End of rant.

I was in NOTL recently and to park on the road you now need to enter in your licence plate number into the machine, which is printed on the ticket.
Bastards! The end of giving away your still-good parking pass are numbered.

I give it a way all the time... Pay it forward. I have had others give it to me. Dont need the $3.00, the gesture is better and getting it returned is even better!

I always just give my ticket away if there is any time left on it. It's the right thing to do in my opinion.

I would never think to ask for money.

If someone asked me for money in exchange for a parking ticket, I would say no thanks and pay the machine.

+1. Seriously if you aren't going to use it why not give it to someone who can. A very small act of kindness I think we can all afford.

+1.

Your complaint appears to be the frequency of the situation where you have an interaction with someone but a person in the interaction is a jerk.

As someone who has been on both sides of this situation, the standard for me has been the person leaving just gives it for free. But asking for a free handout is lame.

Y'all are raining on SkyRider's parade, but if you look carefully, he's a force for good. Where else have so many posters who disagree vehemently on all things social and political agreed so emphatically about something? Thank you SkyRider. Never stop being you. You jerk.

So you're upset because he put a zero value on your ticket when you thought it was worth more. So what did you do? Did you i)approach the next person? ii) use up the time that you had already bought? iii) give your ticket away? iv) leave before your ticket expired?

Don't you hate it when people do what they want and it's not what you want.

Consider this. Maybe your ticket had a half hour left and he wanted to buy a full hour. If he buys your ticket he still has to return in half an hour to pay again. Perhaps this guy decided it would be worth coming back in half an hour if the first half hour was free, but not if he had to pay.

Same thing happened to me today....some idiot tried to sell me this parking ticket for $5 & only had less than 1 hour left on the ticket.
I park at this lot frequently dt & asked him when it expires and he tells me he paid the max and that he was leaving. I said sure i'd be interested but need to see the ticket 1st.
He shows me and i politely decline and point out that its less 1 hour left on the ticket . He says oh well i tried. What a Douche!
Anyhow I always pay it forward and give my unused parking tickets away as i know 1st hand how good it feels when someone else returns the favour.

+1. Except I have paid a couple of guys for tickets, $5 for a $12 ticket and $10 for a $25 ticket. Their request for money was a surprise, think if they wanted 50% I would have walked.

Have been offered several tickets that did not have enough time on them, like 1 hour when I need 2 hours. Always appreciated, but not sure if I should just take the ticket and thank them or politely decline.

So what did you do? Did you ii) use up the time that you had already bought?
My appointment was cancelled which is why I had a lot of unexpired time on the meter. Anyway, I decided to use the time to do some shopping in the area (downtown Toronto).

BTW: Just curious. Do you guys also give away a Leaf hockey ticket if your date cancelled at the last minute? Or, do you try to sell the ticket?

wtf bro, there's a big diiff between a leaf's tix and a measly $3 parking tix.
