PEI was the host and losing in the semis and they didn't take it well...it was a tough game and then this clown from PEI maliciously runs the goalie and punches him in the head...

I think Alberta was sending a message to PEI of "Go fuck yourself, you guys suck"...

I can see the Alberta coach's point of view. He was concerned for his players safety. With PEI out of contention for the championship, they could have easily started fighting in the lineup after the game. It reminds me a bit of the "Punchup in Piestany" c. 1987. The Russians juniors were out of contention for a medal so they suckered the Canadian junior players into a brawl. Canada was looking good for a medal, but the brawl put an end to that.

The best part of that was Don cherry and Brian Williams arguing about it on air....

I remember when Johnny McKenzie refused to shake hands after the Canadiens beat the Bruins in the Stanley Cup quarter finals, ('70-'71 season), but he was just a sore loser.

The Bruins have lacked class for a loooong time.

I seem to recall Gerry Cheevers didn't participate in post game handshakes, as he didn't believe in it.
