There's been a lot of noise about abortion lately. There are probably 320 million men and women in the U.S.

Question: Is abortion really the most important issue in their lives?

For some of them it certainly seems to be.

I have my own opinions about abortion like everyone else does but it is not a big enough deal that it would mobilize me to vote for one candidate over another.

It makes for great conceptual (no pun intended) debate but it isn't even on my top 100 list of issues that affect my life. For those who may not be aware, there are preventive measures. Ok, rape, incest, mother's life in danger, etc.

If you have to ask this question chances are you couldn’t understand the reasoning why people are upset even if it was explained to you.
Here is to wishful thinking
It should always be a woman’s right to choose what she wants to do, from the time sex happens, to pregnancy many things can change or happen in one’s life that could change the way that person chooses to or not to have a baby. But she should have the option.
I do know one thing from talking to a person who has had one, it’s not a decision women come to lightly. They think it through but sometimes they have to make that hard decision which is not very easy to get over in the future either.

Congrats on figuring out that you will never get pregnant.
Perhaps you should ask a woman about this.

As I mentioned already, it is not a burning issue for me (can't speak for you) and not on my top 100 list. So, I don't really care which way the wind blows.

Again, as I mentioned already, there are preventive measures for both men and women to avoid pregnancy.

The wife of one of my friends had an abortion because they felt that they couldn't afford a 3rd child. I think that is a responsible decision. On the other hand, I saw CP 24 interview a pregnant homeless woman. That woman can't even take care of herself so why is she bringing a baby into this world (sorry to be so blunt)?

Question: Just how big an issue is it? Are there millions, 10's of millions, 100's of millions, billions of women lining up for abortions?

Considering that we live in Canada and we are males, it does not effect 99% of the people on this board.

You should probably ask your question on a US hooker board, I am sure providers will give you an earful.

True, if you do not care about rights of women.

For most people, it is an essential right to have control over your own body.

The polling is clear and it has been for at least a couple of decades. Late term abortion and abortion without limits are not winning issues with the American people.

Perhaps, but the numbers would likely be very different if they only polled the people who actually had to carry and birth the babies. What business is it of anyone else?

And those people might be demanding their rights less stridently, if the the laws that enslave them at least ensured that those who impregnated bore fully equal responsibility, and if the society that conscripted parenthood actually cared enough to support children their parents didn't want.

I'm pro choice and this is not an issue I feel about one way or another, except late term and partial birth. I'm just stating the obvious. The later into the term, the less appetite is there among the electorate. Abortion as birth control(unlimited and unregulated) is a loser issue.

I'm just stating the obvious too. Like 'pro-life', 'partial-birth' is partisan campaign rhetoric, not honest debate. The issue of when abortion should not be an option will always be difficult. Handing it to a bunch of men in suits in a talking shop to make another bad law is no way to settle the issue for the women who have the babies. Didn't ever work in the past, won't work any better now. Permitted and regulated is better than underground and not controllable at all.

Particularly, because the current crop of laws aren't written to be workable. Their advocates have boasted they're written to provoke court challenges. Written for lawyers by lawyers, the women and children are just collateral damage the lawmakers ignore.

The bunch of men in suits decided Roe v. Wade, too. As a society we set limits all the time on all sorts of behaviors. It's the price of living in a community.

1) People, please leave your unwanted babies at your local fire station.

2) In at least one culture, some fetuses are aborted because they are the "wrong" gender.

You want the taxpayer to pay for more kids to be raised in foster homes?

Fiscal conservative except when religious values come into play.
