"Dr. Hamidah Meghani, the medical officer of health for the Region of Halton, said it’s believed Cunnington’s case is one of “local transmission” since he didn’t recently travel outside of Canada.

“What we see now is that at the moment, we know that he did not travel outside of Canada, nor does he have a link to a known COVID-19 case, and thus the indication is that there is local transmission,” Meghani said.

"...After dealing with the symptoms for a few days, Watson said he went to the hospital in Milton where he was diagnosed with pneumonia. She said he was given a prescription and sent home, adding he return to hospital not too long after.

“Everything happened really fast after that,” she said, noting he didn’t get a COVID-19 test until a few days before his death.

If one is infected with Covid-19 and your number is up, it won't take long, only 14-30 days and that's it.

Completely botched case.

Anyone presenting with pneumonia should be tested. There’s a fucking outbreak happening here.

Agreed. Pneumonia is dangerous, regardless. I don't understand that people with such symptoms are being sent home (COVID-related or not) and told to self-monitor.

Of course we know the decision was wrong in retrospect but not every patient with suspected pneumonia gets admission. The emerg doc guidelines recommend the use of the following algorithm for decision to admit/consult medicine or not. That algorithm does not factor in co infection with respiratory viruses . So technically they probably still followed standard of care. Now with covid I think people need to be more cautious and aggressive.

Seemed like a great guy. Such a sad situation. His band made some good music as well. Blues rock but a little snappier.
