When I was younger many years ago the age was 21.It was lowered to 18 then not too long after raised to 19 where it has stayed. No matter what the age people who are younger than the legal age will somehow find ways to drink.I did when it was 21 and I was 18 19 20 etc.

Funny thing was I was in the Military Reserve at 17.I could die for my country if we went to war but I couldnt have a drink in the Mens Mess although our Bar Steward was lenient.

I recall Quebec has a more lenient bar scene with them closing at 400 am if not mistaken but they also have a bigger alcohol problem so I have read.

I agree the LCBO BEER STORE have a monopoly BUT most armed robberies in the US are Mom and Pop LIQUOR STORES.

If beer was sold in chain stores like it is in Niagara Falls NY and Buffalo ie: TOPS WEGMANS I would have no problem.

The US have many ways of selling booze from gas stations, corner stores etc.Im not sure I would want it that way up here.

Funny, I was thinking:

1. Vote out David Miller

2. Contract out Garbage Collection Services

3. Elminate the Fair Wage Office

4. Balance the Budget

5. Reduce spending on Social Programs

Alcohol never even crossed my mind.

My platform would be very simple....

1. Balance the Budget without increasing taxes or reducing capital works projects.

forget about all of that...

here's what we need to do... Stop bringing in Sri Lankan refugees, deport the rest causing trouble here, and start bringing in pretty women from Eastern Europe instead

Jamest... you are 100% right but unfortunately the loonie left in this city are louder and more organized than everyone else so it'll take a mircle to get any of those points done..

Didnt London (England) experiment with 24 hr pubs???
Not sure how that worked out and if they still have it

Having 24 hr bars open would kill boozecans overnight (which is prolly a good thing)

I know, I'm from there ;)

But the 24hr pub thing is recent, like the last 5 years I heard.
I dunno how it worked out though

Queen's Park passes the reform law, with an added paragraph: First night there's not a single arrest or complaint related to drunkeness, this law shall come into force the following day.

Almost forgot: Those open drinks carried out of the bar should have a $10 deposit on the containers.
