Very interesting! This for sure is not for everyone, on both the provider and client side.

My thought is, that based on my observations there is still enough "traffic" to keep prices where they are, if not even increasing in future! I just hope we don't end up like the GTA condo crash if/when the breaking point is reached :)

Solution I started implementing: day or two days before spend some time to do some research and come up with alternatives. Flexibility is very key of course, but works for me!

My window for appointments is pretty narrow so almost always I am toward the middle or end of a shift. I almost always book same-day few hours before, almost always on a weekend day. So on the one hand, if I see a longer shift I am "kind of happy" because that usually means my chances of booking...

Since I started with agencies little more than a year ago, been on 40 appointments and have not repeated at all. Before that tried a few independents and have repeated few times, but much less frequently. Is one path better than the other? I don't think so, each has its own plusses and minuses.
