It does a pretty good job of explaining why despite the occasional tough talk, no western country is willing to piss off China.
"War is counterproductive for two countries with economic ties" is a banal observation though.
War is counterproductive in general, after all.

Countries are entangled in all kinds of ways and yes, obviously, that affects the calculus of what it takes to set them to war.
If that's all he is saying, then good, he said something so simple that even he didn't fuck it up. But again, why listen to someone who is only right when he is saying something even a child understands?

Negative. They are in the PACIFIC.
With Britain, Canada, USA ships. The mutual defense treaty is not exclusive to one ocean. I will add in the 5 Eyes Treaty, the relations with India, and people seeing the infrastructure projects by the Chinese for what they are in other nations.

China is losing what credibility it had quickly between Covid, supply chain issues, authoritarian crackdowns, Uighars, reports of a real estate meltdown and more. It has no friends. And I believe a population that will explode if an economic crisis hits.

That must scare the shit out of the Chinese navy.
It bloody should. At least the US navy. Canadian navy perhaps not so much.

As i understand it, with NATO an attack on one is an attack on all. However the US or anyone else coming to the aid of a non NATO member wouldn't count. OTOH that doesn't mean the UK and others couldn't come to help out... not that the US navy needs any help in that regard or that France and the UK could really add any sizable umph to American power in the pacific.
However if China were to preemptively strike the USN, than NATO.

However I am not well versed in Ape Law when it comes to treaties so...

Old sailor proverb: May you have a girl in every port and.
may you have a port in every girl.

President Theodore Roosevelt ordered the "Great White Fleet" to sail around the world in a demonstration of American power. The lefties complained that the Great White Fleet was a demonstration of white supremacy.

The U.S. needs to lower the temperature in demonizing the PRC.

Also, bear in mind that the PRC has enough USD IOU's to sink the U.S. dollar. How, you ask? By dumping the USD IOU's on the open market.

I imagine Taiwan would do to Chinese forces what the Republic of Formosa did to Imperial Japan in1895---token resistance followed by subordination.
You thought wrong petrol guy. Formosa was impoverished, Taiwan is rich. Since becoming a democracy Taiwan has improved both economically and socially. The Kuomintang single party state was abolished in 1987, democracy healed the rift between the natives and the Chiang kai-Shek loyalists. Quality of life has improved dramatically with Taiwan becoming the hub of microchip production.

If Xi is stupid enough to invade a heavily armed island, the Taiwanese would turn into a giant Iwo Jima for them.

There will be no invasion. All Taiwanese manufacturing is done in PRC. Taiwan is much more intertwined with PRC than USA. Re=unification is inevitable.

I always asked my girlfriends father, who is Taiwanese, when he went on about how bad PRC is: "If you dislike PRC so much, why do you do all your business in PRC?"

Wrong way to look at this. France was Germany's biggest trading partner with their economies closely intertwined. Yet, they went to war against each other three times in 70 years.

Stop dreaming about war, please.

Taiwan is obviously part of China, just as Hong Kong is. France was never part of Germany.

The opposition party in Taiwan is in favor of re-unification. I believe it is inevitable. Taiwan will be guaranteed special status for 50 years I bet you there are secrets talks going on as we post here.

The people of the Republic of China decide if they're part of something or not- it's called self determination.
