Long Overdue. The highlights:

Roadside vehicle impoundment increase from seven days to 14 days, and roadside driver’s licence suspensions extend from seven days to 30 days.

Escalating post-conviction licence suspensions, up to a lifetime ban for a fourth infraction.

Lower the threshold for laying street racing charges for those travelling 40 km/h or more above the posted limit on roads where the speed limit is less than 80 km/h.

Bullshit law. Even if you beat the charges you don’t get impound fees refunded it’s punishment via process

Not harsh enough, seems like people are willing to pay the fines for the thrills. Blow up their cars instead. Conservatives are the party tough on criminals, my ass.

because that will withstand a court challenge give your head a shake

Then take your fast, high powered car to a racetrack. Don’t do it on the 401. I’ll bet most people couldn’t do one lap on a racetrack without crashing!
And then some countries allow very high speeds on their autobahns. Are Canadians inherently not capable of driving?

Also, your argument works great for prohibiting people running down the street. They surely couldn't do a lap on a track or run a marathon! So, walk slowly, motherfuckers!

Street racing aside, the only problems I see are drivers clogging up the passing lanes on highways, especially transport trucks,
going so slow that they bottle neck the entire highway, forcing other drivers to dodge in and out to break free of the quagmire.
Or drivers speeding up to prevent people from merging when they signal in.
It's literally jaw dropping to see how clued out a lot of drivers are.

This fckn sucks!

Many countries have highway speed limits of 120-130km/hr

To think that one may lose driver's license @140km/hr is bananas.

Not only that, but these clueless monkeys sitting in townhalls, lower speed limits in all areas: urban, suburban and rural. Many zones that used to be 60 are 50 or even 40 now... 80 zones are a 60 now. Driving 100km/hr through a field with no soul in sight, no sidewalks or traffic light for miles doesn't feel dangerous, but alas, you drivers license could he suspended and vehicle towed.

The only exception should be school zones. Anyone speeding in those zones should be punched in their dumb heads.

I would take it a step further and add a threshold for 30 km/h over in community safety zones and double the new penalties for the CSZ's - 28 day impoundment and 60 day license suspension. Even with existing fine increases for CSZ's I've seen some drivers do incredibly stupid shit in those zones. Example: here in Niagara we have a stretch of road called Fourth Ave. and on that road in between Jordan Rd and Nineteenth St. (about a KM) are two schools, a community park and an arena. Some drivers go barreling down Fourth Ave. anywhere from 70 to 90km/h and don't adjust their speed when they cross Jordan road and get into the CSZ. 40km/h will fuck a kid up pretty good getting hit; 70 plus that kid's dead. Maybe the license suspension and loss of car will get people to pay attention more in those zones.

Dixon used to be a 60 zone for over 30 years. They lowered it to 50. On the Mississauga side Airport Rd. is still 60. Same set up, same road, same risk, different speed limit. But, the cops are having a field day, even in the rain and snow and always in the same spot. "Community safety zones" are popping up everywhere, unused bike lanes, now photo radars in a 30 zones-I shit you not. But, the 400 series are still 100(with some minor exceptions) and even on the completely empty stretches of the 407 on the East side. Fucking ridiculous.
