Seems like people who already filthy rich are still greedy for more.
One of my customers (we were very close at the time too), filthy rich, live on the lake around Bennington Gate in Oakville, I mean massively huge house, some would say beautiful, I say a bit ostentatious. Years ago I was just over there one day casually to say to hang out and see one of their new dogs.
Anyways, the husband was watching the news, and said something "shit there goes some more up and up" with a huge smile. I didn't hesitate for a second, it was an obvious stock trade or value going up and I just flat out made a casual comment, not condescending, "gotta get more money pay off that leased mini-van, which he literally drove. He laughed and he said, "funny thing with money, once you get a few dollars in the bank, you want to see how much more you can get, but you always want more.
That honesty hit me like a brick wall, because I thought, this a rich dude, I can't begin to imagine how the ultra rich think.
I will never forget that, considering knowing what they did in China and Europe for business before coming back to Canada in the mid 2000s. The house is ridiculously huge, INDOOR pool facing lake Ontario, amazing indoor theatre underground and a nice big green backyard that sits on the lake, the backyard had its own little forest and a path you could walk around, I loved it.
He drives a mini-van when he can easily afford a Maybach paid in full with cash.
I want to say they don't have the disease but looking back now, I see that they actually do. One thing I loved about them though, dogs were allowed on the couch. Fucking eh!
They don't need anymore money, but it's a funny thing how it works.
