I sort of agree with you. Garland was too concerned about the optics and didn't pursue criminal charges against Trump early enough over January 6....Lord knows he should have started that once he was appointed.
However, since you insist on taking the partisan route, let's now think about how Gaetz's credibility will be called into question in ways that Garland's never could....

IMHO, Trump wants to get revenge on the DOJ, for weaponizing Trump for the past 8 yrs, with crap lawfare cases etc IMHO, Trump really appointed Gaetz to get back at the Dems. Worse comes to worse, Trump will pick someone else as AG if Gaetz isn't appointed.
Trump is now a lame duck president, as he doesn't have to worry about getting re-elected in 2028. In other words, Trump can have some fun in making the left crazy, with some of his cabinet appointment etc
Garland was totally controlled by the deep state, and purposefully didn't charge Trump with alleged J6 crimes, until it was too late. Garland waited so long so all these Trump lawfare cases could be tried, right in the 2024 election cycle. It turns out that things didn't work out so well for the Dems....LMAO

Maybe with some genius like Conway at the helm, there will be a new push to find that Trump really did win the 2020 election. After all, the 22nd amendment does say you can only be elected twice. It doesn't say you have to actually serve out the term of your second election. Now Democrats will be yelling "Stop the 2020 Steal!. LOL!
I think the first few months of Trump's 2nd term will be
spent on his revenge tour. After taking care of his enemies
and if he is smart Trump will spend more time on playing
golf. If that is too physically demanding to him he won't
likely be able to finish his 2nd term. Vance will be Trump II
serving Trump's 3rd term.
