Agriculture is a business.
inflation is mainly caused by supply & demand not by the carbon tax.

actually
normal inflation is mainly caused by supply & demand not by the carbon tax.
the carbon tax causes a whole other layer of incremental and completely avoidable inflation

the loonie lefts position on carbon tax induced inflation can only be explained by
  1. they are intentionally trying to deceive others - they are lying
  2. they are ignorant of economics - they are stupid
either way, this tax has to be eliminated

grants >>>>>> thats nothing
if they even came close to the $160,000 , all that has been accomplished is bureaucratic paperwork
otherwise the only outcome is to make farmers poorer
what part of '"The use of energy on a farm is non-discretionary " are you unable to comprehend ?

what part of '"The use of energy on a farm is non-discretionary " are you unable to comprehend ?

government wealth redistribution ponzi schemes are about as far away from market based solution as you can get

what part of '"The use of energy on a farm is non-discretionary " are you unable to comprehend?

and yes the carbon tax does make the farms less cost effective

what part of '"The use of energy on a farm is non-discretionary " are you unable to comprehend?
There will not be a lower carbon footprint of our agriculture, except for the farms that go bankrupt and stop producing.... our food

tarriffs ?
great
another layer of costs via government stupidity applied to our non-discretionary food supply

I would suggest you go work at a form for a while, but you would get physically broken

Instead you should go and volunteer at a local food bank
perhaps then you wake up

however i doubt it as you are incapable of objective thinking
what is wrong with you?

The carbon tax is both evil and stupid
So what if the energy use is non discretionary, there are all kinda of options to reduce energy by making capital investements. How do you know what kind of grants are available. Billions of dollars are available and more will be coming.

0.15 of inflation if carbon tax. WOO EFFIN HOO!!! What other option to solve the issue? Like I said, Canada has NO CHOICE in the matter and no one refuted me on that. So you guys are just blowing smoke 'cos you wanna criticise Trudeau so you pick a non issue and whine and whinge.

Like crying about 0.3% of the greenbelt being made available for housing development to help the housing crisis?
Like building homes that you can actually see and touch vs a tax scheme that can't mathematically demonstrate how every dollar collected actually improves the climate?

Well yeah that's pretty much it in a nutshell for a mushroom farm. there is heat and usual operational and regulatory stuff. I would imagine thiere is a lot of heat involved in year round indoor agriculture. Also the can export their produce and get credits, get grants to reduce their energy use and carbon tax. Probably can even lower their costs in the longer run using geothermal heat and more insulation.
That explains why family farms are disappearing, something you can see with your own eyes outside the city. Also explains the article you can’t be bothered to read. Or the price of groceries…Don’t let facts and logic stop you.

Have to wonder just what you know about farming or rural life.

its been shown there is lots of land available to build homes without using the Green belt. Once the mechanism exists to build there it won't stop expecially with a huge highway being built. Don't tell me you are that niave. Besides home building has nothing to do with the subect. As for a carbon tax, it will work, the only question is, to what degree and at what rate. Are you telling me you don't use less gas when prices soar? If you are really rich I guess it does not matter but demand destruction is real. And when you offer incentives to other options then you get conversion.

Thats not why family farms are disappearing. That has more to do with the value of land and desire of the offspring of farmers to move on to other professions.. Very few farmers go bankrupt in Canada as compared to the USA as farmers are give many types of assistance

I guess you can’t read a link that’s been provided twice. Nor can you search dozens of articles. No doubt farmers all over Canada are wrong and you, are right. Nor can you seem to grasp food inflation.

So what if the energy use is non discretionary,
it is not discretionary
farmers spend a lot of money on energy, money they prefer not to spend

again go try working on a farm so you are educated about what you preach

there are all kinda of options to reduce energy by making capital investements.
too bad the capital budget is short $160,000 because of the carbon tax and it will be at least $160,000 a year($540,000 after quadrupling .... until the election and the abolition of this evil tax

you really do not think before regurgitating liberal bull shit talking points do you?

How do you know what kind of grants are available. Billions of dollars are available and more will be coming.
#1. have you ever applied for a government grant ?,
#2. ah there you go again with the loonie left answer to everything >>>> spend / give away other peoples money, even if it is to try and fix a problem the loonie left created
#3. There is no more money, the liberals have spent / borrowed and printed too much already. >> inflation
#4 spend / borrow and print more money >>>>> more inflation >>>> election and the decimation of the moron liberal party

you backed a fool and that fool has caused a lot of damage

no it wont

the only question is, to what degree and at what rate
no the only question is when will it be abolished

. Are you telling me you don't use less gas when prices soar?
No
If one needs to drive, they need to drive

Nope if your son needs to be at his hockey game , you get him there , some for your daughter to her dance class
if you have pick up the youngest from day care on time or pay a $50 late fee, you are driving

and these people are not rich, the middle clast is loaded with consumer debt
the very last thing they need is a tax on carbon dioxide

don't bother with the rebate bullshit
60% pay more than they get back

Yeah whatever, people whine about the carbon tax then get an F150, that means the tax is not high enough Every study I have seen only says the tax will not achieve its targets at the current rate. There is discretional and non-disscretional driving. When prices get higher the discretonal driving is reduced. Even higher for a sustained period ,smaller vehicles get popular and used EV prices go up. So don't tell me it does not work because that is not based on reality.

Yes i have applied for a govt grant before and got one. So did you during Covid remember? You really think inflation is being caused in Canada when the US is printing money on a scale that is difficult to comprehend? Puny canada causing global infaltion? Man that is pretty funny. The G7 are printing money like crazy and tiny Canada is the cause if global inflation.

Ok one farm went under due to mould, .these guys are in trouble due to energy costs as they built too far from the natural gas line. The gas would save 400K a year but cost 2m to put in. Yet no talk of heat pumps, more insulation etc. So you see the carbon tax is already working right in that article. He is desparete to reducing his heating costs. https://capitalcurrent.ca/clean-energy-in-the-dirty-business-of-mushroom-farming/#:~:text=Ottawa's%20last%20mushroom%20farm%2C%20Carleton,the%20move%20saved%20their%20business. So they switch form high carbon Oil to lower carbon propane. This is EXACTLY the behvior change it supposed to cause. Duhhh.

Um..Reality is something that exist. Projections about whether or not it will curb people’s habits……..

Um…obviously you don’t live in reality and the country, where people HAVE to drive further..For work, for groceries, for doctors, for hockey….never mind teens that need vehicles to get to work, to hockey as well…..Where trucks and SUVs are more practical than cities. Never mind farms…

Clearly, you don’t know reality and that Hydro is more expensive, the infrastructure for EVs isn’t there never mind winters, clearly you don’t know in reality theres no NAT GAs ( see article)…you haven’t read..Clearly can’t grasp that if after 100 years, NAT GAS still isn’t available. Or high speed internet…The infrastructure for hydro, and EVs???

clearly you don’t grasp rural areas pay for the $$ you pocket in rebates, taking the TTC, walking/biking or 407 or Ontario Place….Despite how well off, silver spooned and pampered you are…So Wynne or JT can have your vote.

Clearly just another hypocritical liberal, that claims farms are crucial and whines about green belts.

Claims to champion the less fortunate but throws them under the bus ( see also manufacturing in small town Ontario). Claims to understand socioeconomics.

but only pays lip service to it and those affected…Virtue signalling is so in vogue these days…

See just Ontario, see just Hydro still not fixed after almost 20 years…despite Fords promises too….i wonder why he hasn’t done anything ( I can hear a lot of whines from you know who) and see mountains of debt.

But then whines about consequences be they cheap Chinese goods, be they no home grown vaccines, be they supply chains from across the world, be they groceries, be they house prices or grid lock or code blacks in the gta and soaring demand. And people flocking to and flooding greener pastures. Please don’t let 20 years of reality get in the way.

And in response to your article. See Hydro, see Nat gas, see now too carbon taxes, and fertilizer…and PPs clip and his tax bill …and or JT now suddenly worried about votes in rural Atlantic Canada..

see also western grain farmers .and Alberta oil patch…or did you forget about them too………and don’t forget central Ontario/manufacturing…….. and do you think this/that farm is the only family or small business in rural Canada. See also billions in debt keeping them afloat during Covid because they aren’t rich and are barely getting by<<<<<<..just another historical fact many Lefties here have already forgotten like they do to people all the time…

So let’s just add another straw…or two dozen.

How’s all that for reality.

too funny
the liberals were in such a hurry to give away Covid money they gave more $ to rich folks than poor folk
now they are scrambling to recoup $

if you think grants to farmers will be easy to obtain you are sniffing glue

denying that printing 600 B CAD and the caron tax are not inflationary shows your complete lack of economic understanding

god you are thick
this tax is hurting Canadian business and consumers, especially the poor

Every study I have seen only says the tax will not achieve its targets at the current rate
.
despite Justin's promises it would not go above $50/ton
the mushroom farm will be paying 4 X 160,000 = 640,000 every god dam year until is goes in bankruptcy

this is a flawed concept from word go , delivered by a snake oil salesman

There is discretional and non-disscretional driving. When prices get higher the discretonal driving is reduced. Even higher for a sustained period ,smaller vehicles get popular and used EV prices go up. So don't tell me it does not work because that is not based on reality.
you do not get it , the consumer is maxed out on debt
the reality is no one can afford EVs

the other reasons the carbon tax will fail
a) carve outs, everyone wants one
b) the next govt is going to axe the inflationary tax

The carbon tax is regressive, it doesn't affect poor or middle class.
0.15% more, that's it.

You keep pushing disinformation.

Hydro is not more expensive if you use geothermal energy which is idea for a farm. its 3-400% efficient, plus they can add solar and wind. to further lower their enegy cost. One fact you miss from that article is the farm was a big trouble in 2014...when Harper was PM... soooo yeah its ALL Trudeaus fault. 🤣🙄 Farming inputs always fluctuate, and farmers must manage these changes like any other busienss. Look at the whining energy indiustry RECORD PROFITS 🤣 under a LIBERAL TRUDEAU GOVT. 🤣🤣🤣 those profits are bittersweet, but I am guessing they will take it.

Fact you’re missing, and either willfully blind to, or just blind to.

Did you miss the words “not the only family or small business? Or not the only farm..

Did you miss the words manufacturing to, etc and so on. And much more..Of coarse you did because you can’t handle facts, history or the truth.

As for 2014..While Harper was at the wheel pre, during and post 2008. While manufacturing losses were also happening that you stuck your head in the sand and are doing it all over again..

Did you miss the words “Energy” in the article. You know Hydro…..you know Ontario…Remind us all about that if you’re capable. I suppose you also forget the new politically correct term “Energy Poverty”…Jesus you can’t even handle that…Ontarios shithole is somehow Harper’s fault…though he did have to contend with job losses here, a mess here.

Of coarse you did.
Because you can’t handle facts, history and the truth of the matter.

Not the least of which is somehow forgetting that the billions in debt incurred during Covid for families and small businesses was to try and keep some afloat..Gee I wonder why.
