I don't want to make this a topic about right/wrong on what's going on downtown, but I want to get a sense of what the situation was like around the downtown spas. I'm interested in heading down to one of these this weekend, but if it's a total shit show in the area then I'm just going to pass. Was hoping that someone who was in the area recently could give me a sense of how nuts it is around these places. Thanks!

Club Alpha
Good day everyone!
Club Alpha is usually very spoiled to have a large outdoor parking lot right next door, 2 underground parking on the same block along with ample street parking.
During this demonstration, we don’t have access to our usual parking spaces. The parking situation is fluide and changes daily. But since the protest has started, most people have been able to park 2 or 3 blocks away.
I would like to also point out that we’re within a block distant of 2 different train stops: Parliament and Lyon.
The club is located on a street that is currently being used as a buffer zone where no trucks are parked.

On a personal note, I come from Kanata daily. I’ve been walking through the demonstration on my own with no issues.
I hope this helps. Always feel free to reach out.

According to the news, they will be ramping up with fresh recruits this weekend. If you are going to try to go down there then I think the best way is to take the train. Two block walk and you will be in paradise. Minimal problems.

Minimal except that it will be very cold tomorrow and the 'Train' likely won't be running. Just one more thing this city has fucked up.

Avoid DT for the time being. Very good options in either east, west or south ends.

If you can get into the core without driving your own vehicle, you have nothing to worry about. The media portrays the situation as truckers running around assaulting every person they see. In reality the atmosphere is more similar to Canada Day...with the addition of trucks of course.

PS: This was as of last Sunday, can't say for sure things haven't changed since then so if you step out of the LRT Station door and get immediately stabbed by angry truckers with pitch forks...it's not on me!! haha
That is assuming the LRT is actually operational.

Have been at Alpha a few times over the past couple of weeks with no issues

The streets are blocked off so it's easy to park a couple of blocks away, take public transit, walk, or bicycle over. A few people are riding horses.

The crowds are thinning out, the weather is warmer, the Alpha ladies are lovely, the protesters are an interesting mix, families everywhere, the atmosphere is like Winterlude with horns.

Hope we have a peaceful resolution soon so the trucks will leave and we can get our city back.

Until then ...

Kudos to CMJ management Maya and Quinn for keeping the dream alive in the Downtown, East, and West. I bicycled past Bank Street last weekend and it appeared that the trucks were lined up in a holding pattern belching noise, smoke, and hellfire. My darling Clementine was on the schedule Downtown. You go girl!'

Kudos to Alpha Owner Jess for leading her team through very trying circumstances. At one point Queen Street was ground zero of the protest. A truck was parked outside Alpha blowing the horn 24/7. Inside was an oasis of tranquility.

Kudos to the lovely MAs for working Downtown throughout the protests. They made substantial sacrifices to get to the spas, waited for custies to arrive, staying cheerful and looking fabulous all the while. Thanks ladies! 🙂

Breaking News...

Mayor Jim Watson says an agreement has been reached with the president of the "Freedom Convoy" demonstration to remove trucks out of residential neighbourhoods starting Monday. 👍🎊🙂🎋🎈🎉👌
