Definitely the hardest best-to-worst list to come up with since the Beatles were so groundbreaking in everything they did. The Beatles had throwaway filler tracks on albums that would have been flagship career-defining songs for other bands if they had written them.

The first five albums on my personal list of rankings (remember, this is not a definitive list) are all extremely tight. If you asked me tomorrow, the list could very well change. My guess is most people's Top 5 favourite Beatles albums would match mine, although the order might be different.

Here we go, Beatles albums ranked best to worst:

Rubber Soul (1965)
Revolver (1966)
Abbey Road (1969)
Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)
The Beatles (AKA, the White Album) (1968)
Help! (1965)
A Hard Day’s Night (1964)
Let It Be (1970)
Beatles For Sale (1964)
Please Please Me (1963)
With The Beatles (1963)
Yellow Submarine (1969)

This is my list. Feel free to share yours.

Groundbreaking in everything they did? really?.........starting off as a boy band covering The Marvelettes and Chuck Berry is hardly ground breaking...........but i will give you that after 1965 or so, maybe ground breaking................i never enjoyed their music, but there is no denying their talent.....ranking The Rolling Stones Albums.......that would be good.....

Maybe not the early music unto itself. But combine it with their hair, clothes, personalities and vibe, they were unique and one cannot deny the hysteria they created because of all those new things. That combination was definitely groundbreaking. Speaking personally, I did not know a lot of those songs that they covered. It was all new to me, so it felt groundbreaking.

Also, keep in mind, they were just 19-21. How many people are genre-creating virtuosos at that age. I admit, I am biased, but that's my take.

I agree with your top 3 but I have a slightly different order.

Revolver--1A
Abby Road--1B
Rubber Soul--3

Rubber Soul is where they a whole album of mature music. They took it to a new level.

But I felt that they improved on it with Revolver. It was always my fave.

But now, I revere side 2 of Abbey Road. It is pure non-stop genius.

im willing to guess your choices will be completely different than mine..........

Side 2 of Abbey Road is amazing; perhaps the best single side of an album ever created. Only other contender I can think of might be Side 1 of The Dark Side of the Moon.

I seriously had a hard time putting Rubber Soul above Revolver. Or Abbey Road, for that matter. As I said in my initial post, the top few on my list can change by the day.

You're spot-on about Revolver taking things to another level, and a lot of critics have stated it's Revolver, not Pepper, that was the game-changer for the Beatles.

Comparing Sgt Pepper with Revolver, Pepper introduced the idea of the concept album, which was unheard-of at the time. There were also new sounds, instruments and technology on Sgt Pepper, but for some reason, Pepper seems dated to me; Revolver seems timeless.

Sgt Pepper is an album that's much greater than the sum of its equal parts; Revolver, Abbey Road and Rubber Soul are just fantastic collections of songs.

EDIT: Sorry, Ogibowt, my reply was meant for Shack!
