What happens if you get two shots of different vaccines ?

Let's say you get Pfizer, then the next shot is AstraZen.

Will the different medicines mix in your body ?

Bonus question: If you get the needle in your left buttock, does the second shot have to be in the right one?

They don't get you the shot in your buhtuk nor do they give you a bax of chocolates

Serious answer. They are doing studies on this right now.

Those two vaccines have different ways of providing protection so I wouldn’t mix them. Pfizer and Moderna should be fine.

Even there it is a bit sketchy. Theoretically, any of them could be mix and matched in terms that a second challenge tends to boost the response. It just wouldn't be the most efficient way to do it and there is no real data.

In Canada that may be the only option for most people.

Perhaps the mix of vaccines will create another nasty variant that will be known as the Canadian Variant.

BEIJING - China is considering the mixing of different COVID-19 vaccines to improve the relatively low efficacy of its existing options, a top health expert has told a conference.
Authorities have to "consider ways to solve the issue that efficacy rates of existing vaccines are not high", Chinese media outlet The Paper reported, citing Gao Fu, the head of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
His comments mark the first time a top Chinese expert has publicly alluded to the relatively low efficacy of the country's vaccines, as China forges ahead in its mass vaccination campaign and exports its jabs around the world.
China has administered around 161 million doses since vaccinations began last year -- most people will require two shots -- and aims to fully inoculate 40 percent of its 1.4 billion population by June.
But many have been slow to sign up for jabs, with life largely back to normal within China's borders and domestic outbreaks under control.

China will catch up on vaccine technology soon enough... once they steal the recipe for the vaccines invented in the West.

Just another example that China is not so good on original thought, and so much of their "success" is based on intellectual property theft and "knocking off' products and technology from superior thinkers.

And even then the immoral money grubbers will probably mix in some diluting shit to make an extra penny on a thousand shots.

For those who actually want to get vaccinated

Doubling down is an easy way to get your 2 doses but government hates you for gaming the system (oh no the big fat cherry cheesecake monster is coming to get you!)

Go to a local pharmacy get your 1st dose (usually Astra)
Go home sign up online through ON health for your second "1st dose" (usually Pfizer or Moderna)

Because most of you have a 1 month wait its an easy way to get your 2 doses ahead of the crowd
Website says you shouldn't do this but noone cares what they say anymore these days

We all want to be back pooning as soon as possible, but I would refrain from taking Dr TeeJay's advice. These vaccines are still very new and are different in almost every way (composition, ingredients, storage) and shouldn't be messed around with.

Only a foolish dumbass would follow your work around and risk their well-being by doing something that is not scientifically tested and approved.

I would advise against taking vaccine at all
Even Health Canada has basically said they do NOT prevent illness (they only lessen how severe your sickness is)

The strategy is for those who really want / need vaccine and want to get 2 doses sooner than scheduled

They have publicly stated multiple times that people should not shop around and mixing and matching different doses is in no way a bad thing
But yeah Dr Squeezer thinks its bad to mix doses lol

University of Oxford has a detailed study on effects of mixing and matching and which order of brands is more efficient / less efficient

You are so delusional and cannot read if your life depended on it!

What do you think "efficacy" refers to genius?

Heard Canada is thinking to send the AZ back to India, or at least suspend delivery of AZ to Canada and donate our 1.5 Million Doses back to them. Their need for AZ outweighs our need for it if M and Pf will be sending more and more to us.

Makes sense. Among my friends and coworkers there's still a reluctance to get the AZ shot when P & M are available or will be available in a matter of days. Although 1.5 million doses will hardly make a dent in India. The Yanks however can make a real difference with their 60 million unused and expiring AZ doses.

What happens to all the people who got one AZ shot then? Are they going to keep just enough doses to do second doses there or are they going to recommend mix and match?
I haven't heard a thing about that.
