Rapper Tray Savage is dead after he was shot and killed in Chicago on Friday. He was 26.



A spokesperson for the Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed to Fox News that Savage – whose real name is Kentray Young – died on Friday after succumbing to his injuries.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported after the shooting that the 26-year-old emcee and member of rapper Chief Keef’s Glo Gang cohort of recording artists was shot in the neck and shoulder after dropping his girlfriend off in a South Side neighborhood in Chatham around 11 a.m. local time.

Citing police, the outlet said Savage continued driving his vehicle after being shot, striking three cars before his came to a halt. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said witnesses at the scene reported seeing a "white SUV, possibly a Mazda" speeding away from the site of the crash.

The incident is currently under investigation by Area Two detectives and there are reportedly no suspects at this time.

There is no end to black poverty and violence and racism without free healthcare and free education. It's the basic minimum as we have that in Canada and other European country and still have racism problem. Yet not as problematic and toxic as in the US.

In the end though it will have to come from via personal responsibility. Families ensuring their kids go to school, attend school, do their homework, study hard, go to university etc. Students putting the hard work in to set themselves up for success. Some groups seem able to do this. Some groups don't. Blaming the system is one factor but personal responsibility to me is the biggest factor.

It would also help a lot if more black kids had two parents in the home instead of just their mother, which apparently is often the case, especially in the US,. I believe single parent homes are large contributing factor to kids not going to school, getting into drugs, joining gangs, etc. It's not that a mother can't do a good job, but a strong and consistently present father figure can assist greatly in setting a good example of proper behavior for a young son or daughter.

There was a long lasting rule in the USA that stated that no woman could receive government welfare assistance if there was an adult able-bodied man, whether her husband or not, living in her home. That rule was overturned by the Supreme Court in 1668, but it may have contributed to some extent to the high incidence of single woman parentage that still exists today.

Apparently one of the consequences was that, even if couple were happily married, if the man was unemployed and there was insufficeint income between them to the extent that welfare was required, he would sometimes leave the home so that his wife could apply and qualify for welfare payments.

Who's to say that that didn't set a pattern, at least to a small degree, of the frequency today of single woman parentage in the black community, and possibly other oppressed minorities.
