It does sound like a scam, I would never asked for a deposit if I already know the gentleman. In fact I've never even asked for one.

I also think you should give her name, not for revenge or anything but just to protect your peers.

Cheers,
With respect, the intuitive peers protect themselves by not advancing deposits. This thread echos the same sentiment throughout, 'don't give deposits'. I never have and never will, too many red flags. And I've only ever once cancelled with short notice. I broke a strut on my car from a pot hole car on my way to an appointment. But I saw the lady many times after that and always apologized.
I should have claimed the costs from the City!

Correction "vouch"

I am a big fan of collectives or associations like Ottawa Independent Companions (OIC) where the members meet s standard of professional service and can vouch for each other's services. OIC has some very hot SPs and some of the best-selling known in Ottawa.

Who do I think I am : A very well established provider with a great reputation that love her job and take it seriously and have a lot of respect for my clients and expect the same from them ...
Everybody that met me before can tell you what kind of provider I am and how much I do care for my clients.

Now who do YOU think you are ?

I have mixed feelings on deposits... I have been given one without asking. I have been told to take them by providers and clients alike.

Based on the number of times something has come up for others it would certainly change things if I took deposits. It would cover my expenses without any risk to me.

Based on how things typically shape up for a low volume provider... I do well. Heck I have one heck of a reputation from before and am rebuilding one now that is equal.

Please name the person who stole from you so others know this is not someone to be trusted... Additionally please consider this:

A good provider will hold a deposit over for another time if something does come up. I know I was offered one, and my most recent trip to the persons area did not afford the opportunity to meet as it was not a scheduled time. I will continue to hold what was voluntarily given to me until I am able to spend time with the person as I would with any valid reason for a change in plans. That is the difference between providers like myself and the other amazing women in this thread, and someone who would blatantly steal from someone.

Just my... 2 cents or so.

P.S. Why would you go on the attack. Why couldn't a variety of viewpoints be expressed without this type of comment?

She knows she is a human being with rights in her workplace, and chosen profession. You might not view sexwork as real work. That is unfortunate... Let me tell you it is a lot classier than some office jobs I have held. Would you speak to your sister/mother/cousin/etc. like that? I think not...

that is not entitlement. SW are self employed business people. Short notice cancellations mean scrambling to fill the spot, possible planning going up in smoke etc. Sure life means clients do have to cancel short notice due to work, family but what she is doing is no different than many small businesses

I've never met her but have no problem with a deposit. I had to once cancel the morning of an appointment and ended up paying her for the appointment anyway when I saw her next as I knew she didnt get to have my time slot scheduled with anyone else.

Counterpoint: I've sent $1000 partial deposits for overnights, and $500+ full prepayments for multi-hour dates (that in at least one case I needed to reschedule, while obeying the provider in question's policy for providing adequate notice for doing so) and never had even the slightest hint of a problem.

It depends on the individual in question, the context of the booking, and your relationship to the provider. There's nothing inherently risky about sending a deposit. In fact, there are several advantages I love about them, which include:

- not having to carry a massive amount of cash/forcing a provider to carry a massive amount of cash
- skipping the awkward "did you see where I put the envelope?" or "do you need to stop and count it?" moments
- getting to meet someone that already has full faith in your integrity and is excited to please you for making her life less stressful

My question is why did she asked for a deposit if she knew you ?
I am only asking for a deposit as a last resort to screen a client when he can’t provide a board handle or references ...
Unless the client book and don’t show up most of the time , it would be no point to ask for a deposit ..
Did you ghosted her before ?
Cause she is a scam artist like many women working in this biz period

Until you get stung and then feel like you've been taken advantage of. Now, having said this, I do not blame the ladies for demanding deposits for FMTY, overnighter which include costs of hotels or incalls just for the purpose of one John's meeting. Don't blame the ladies for not wanting to be out of pocket.

In my case, I would only do longer sessions and overnighters with regulars. They know me enough to realize they are safe without needing deposits. I would never book a long appointment with a new provider or one I haven't established chemistry with.

I had a very successful pre-pay situation with one of the well-established providers in town (part of OIC now; this was before that started). She had just upped her rates from $200/h to $250/h. We agreed on a pre-pay of $1000 for 5 visits and they had to be within 6 months. So, I got my old rate per visit and she got a bunch of money to invest in something right away. We'd always had a good client-provider relationship, trust was cool (I was taking the risk, but I had very little reason to worry) and it worked out well for both of us. It can for you, too, but ...

And, no, I won't tell you who the SP was that I did it with because she doesn't want it known.

Yup, it depends on who you are dealing with.
Ladies from LL. Not a good idea.

Go with reputable providers.
