The $31-billion investment in natural gas is much more significant than the $400-million investment you cited.

To repeat: It was natural gas that allowed the former Liberal government to phase out coal-fired plants in Ontario. If the government had relied on wind and solar, the coal plants would still be running today.

Natural gas also allowed the United States to play a leading role last year in reducing carbon emissions (in contrast to the virtue signallers in Canada and Europe).

Natural gas is lower carbon output then coal, so yes, it was a smart move.
But as the chart above shows, solar will be cheaper soon.
