While I loved the original show, the original cast is all way too old and the heart and soul of the show - John Candy is no longer with us. (Sadly.)

You could try the same premise with a different cast, but it wouldn't work.

I wish someone would just play the re-runs even.

I loved a lot of the detective shows from the seventies. Rockford Files is my all time fab. show. I also loved Cannon, Barnaby Jones, Streets of San Francisco, Mannix, Ironsides, Hawaii Five O. plus several others.
Columbo! How could you forget Columbo? Peter Falk is great, the shambling slob shtick is great, the criminals always underestimating him is great. 'tis all great!

It would have been nice to do a couple of episodes, perhaps half a season of the Sopranos, but now with James Gandolfini no longer with us it just would not be the same, even if they found a way to write him out as a part of a "hit" to the Jersey Crew from the boys across the bridge.

Most TV shows from the past had a good run and were past their "sell" date by the time they were cancelled, so I'm not all that eager to see any of them brought back. Besides, with the possible exception of Hawaii Five-O and V, how many recent attempts at reviving old shows were really any good? For example, anyone remember (or want to remember) the revived attempts at Bionic Woman? Knight Rider? Charlie's Angels?
Hawaii Five-O isn't an exception.

I tried watching an episode of Get Smart a couple of weeks ago, The humour was dumb and outdated and the laugh-track is painfully obtrusive. There's enough silliness in NCIS: Los Angeles.

Here comes the future
was not a show. Maybe you mean Here Comes the 70s ? It was good for the time but now that we have the specialty channels (the Science Channel, Discovery, NatGeo) and the internet it would be useless. Similarly with so much internet porn available why would anyone watch the 20 Minute Workout.

Kolchak The Night Stalker has been brought back many times. Most recently it is called Grimm.

Does anybody posting in this thread even watch current series?!
