MAGGIES!

Just a little east on college from bathurst. North side. Spectacular breakfast, solid prices and you don't have to deal with the pretty yuppy crowd who thinks they are special because they took the family out to Coras, complete with a god***m stroller that trips people on the way to the bathroom.

Granted the ambience isn't the best but the food is spectacular and the portions huge.

By far the best breakfast in town: Hoof Cafe on Dundas at Grace.
thanks for the reco, i heard about that place but have not been as of yet. was thinking about going to black hoof for dinner but maybe i'll check the cafe for breakfast first.

i'll add swan to the list, my personal fave - when i have the time to wait in line for breakfast that is!

There is a place on Kingston Rd just east of TO or maybe just inside of TO that I have been to with family on one of my visits to TO. It was very good. Also a place in Oshawa on Townline Rd I believe in a mini mall with a macs and a Blockbuster in it that I have been in a couple of times that is very good as well. Sorry I can't remember the names. Maybe someone can help out.

cheers

For chain restaurants I'd also throw up Over Easy as a good choice, there's one in the Victoria Hotel on Yonge just south of the Eaton Center, and several others around the city.
Over Easy is terrible & over-priced. Lots of bad reviews on Urbanspoon and other review sites.

You absolutely have to go for dinner at the Black Hoof as well. If you like meat and charcuterie, this place is heaven on earth.

I've been to Swan a few times, but found the service only so-so, and the food was good but not great.

If you are in the west end, try a spot called "The Blackcat grill" on Dundas just east of Jane, good breakfast , nice staff and quick service.

Hey Tokyo Heights, I didn't know Sunset was a chain so thanks for that. I've only been to the Port Credit location. I'll be able to check out the other ones on my biz trips. Cora's is good too. For anyone going to Vancouver here's a great place:

It's actually in North Van. I used to go most Saturdays when I lived there. They get lined up. Miss the Yukon style bacon!

If you're a Sunset Grill fan and in cottage country (Muskoka) this summer, you'll be happy to know they're also on the waterfront in Gravenhurst.
