yes rule needs to be changed and it is not difficult,,,if a relief pitcher gives up the lead and the winning tem regains the lead while that pitcher is still pitcher of record, the win should revert to the pitcher of record who had the original lead.

Yeras ago...and not that many...there was an official stat for game winning rbi......problem was the guy who got the first rbi in a 16-0 blowout got a credit the same as the guy who hit the grand slam in the bottom of the ninth

should be a human decision and let common sense apply

no doubt Gibby keeps notes anyways and when it comes to contract negotiations all is noted by both sides and those negotiations, esp in arbitration, can get quite ugly ....

Jays 1 game off WC spot after Sox and TB lose.
They might have to find a replacement for Travis now if he really is out for the season.

Phillies, Padres and Giants are pretty much out of it already, so they might start trading players soon

by the way, my brother Joe has been overall very good this year.....
This is a great opportunity for Smith to show what he has. Nice game against TB should give him confidence. Think the idea is to start him against righties and Pierce against lefties. If he plays decent D he could be a late inning replacement for Pierce as well. Hope he comes through!

Plus he is the only guy right now with the team who can play centerfield should Pillar goes down.

Huh?? Who exactly do we have at 2nd who can hit for power??
I'm presuming, but I don't think he meant we have lots of power at 2nd, but that the team
possesses lots of power in other spots in the lineup.

I meant team has lots of power without Travis.

Actually, Travis at second is only 50 points higher batting average than second by comittee or 1 in 20 at bats more hits or 1 more hit every 4 games. How crucial is that?
You make it sound like a 50 point difference in batting average is not much. Why do you think Goins is not a starter when most acknowledge his defensive prowess. It because a low 200 batting average is considered poor. A 260 to 260 batting average for a second basemen is considered acceptable and especially for Travis who hits a lot of doubles and has occasional power. Travis had 10 hits in April but more than tripled this to 35 in May. So the low 50 point difference you speak of has been influenced by Travis' slow start . Jays will really miss Travis and may need to find an upgrade over what they have.

I'd say there is a significant difference between .250 and .300 hitters. One is mediocre, the other among the best hitters.
