They are from the Prairies. It was pretty fast though and sales for this are low(around 2,5 million per draw compared to 16 million for 6/49) so you can win. They don't sell much tickets and someone still won.
I like this lotery bettter than 649. Payout for lower-tier prizes is better eg 3/5 =$20.00 whereas 3/6 on 649=$10

So far since this lottery started I have won : $500, $190, & $144

Damn. I won $1000. This is a lot of wins for the low # if tickets bought.

How many lines do you buy per draw?

I do my own numbers. Keep in mind I won $500 the first time I played. For the $190 I think I spent $48 but I used the same bonus# on all tickets (GN) & I got that correct that's how I was able
win $190. One of the tickets had 3/5+GN = $100. Same for the $144 I spent $48 and several of the tickets had the correct GN # so I had several lines with $20 prizes.

Nice. You gots to be creative and develop strategies.

Some may just spend the minimum and win but it seems those who spend a bit more have better odds.

Many are motivated by a small prize in that they have multiplied their investment, and this does seem to have a bit more than the games where everyone is focused on the jackpots.

This Daily Grand prize structure is a brilliant money maker for the lottery corporation compared to 6/49 and Lotto Max.
Think about this. If 6/49 and Lotto Max are not won on any given draw, they bump up the prize money for the following draw. And this continues until it's won. Some of the prizes get huge.
For the Daily Grand, if there's no grand prize winner, the grand prize stays the same. The grand prize never gets bigger. Think about how much extra money they get to keep in their coffers because of this approach.
Granted it's still relatively new and not as popular as the well established games, so the participation isn't as high yet, but if it takes off for them, what a cash cow it will be.

Theres no taxes on lottery wins, but once the winnings start making money (interest) then the interest is taxed.

I believe the Daily Grand's lump-sum amount is roughly $7,000,000.

Bye the way, I won $50 from Wednesday night's Ontario 49 lottery. :high5:

p.s. No taxes on lottery winnings in Canada.

So life is considered about 20 years? Rip off

5. IS THERE AN OPTION FOR A SINGLE CASH PAYMENT INSTEAD OF AN ANNUITY?
Yes. For the top prize, instead of an annuity payment, the winner may choose a single lump sum total of $7 million. For the second prize of $25,000 a year for life, the winner may choose a single lump sum total of $500,000.

Frank, it depends how old you are, whether you're a thrill-seeker he he, and how healthy. Would I take my chances? Not if I was middle-aged. You can get sick or get run over.

Not rip off, just math. the 7 mill is the present value of the total annuity payment with time = infinity. It is therefore the same amount.
7 mill is still enough either way.
Things you need to consider. 1) if the OLG ever discontinues/goes bankrupt. 2) in the future if the federal government decides it needs additional revenue and decides to tax lottery winnings. Taking a lump sum payment may be wise. But if you have a trusted younger family member or friend, you could give the ticket to them, and work out some sort of payment with them on the down-low.

I didn't think of the investment potential. Good point.

18. HOW LONG DO THE ANNUITY PAYMENTS LAST ON THE TOP TWO PRIZE CATEGORIES?
The annuity prizes on DAILY GRAND are intended as true “for life” prizes, lasting for the entire life of the winner. There is no set maximum on the length of the payments.
