So I tried this mattel viewmaster and its cool. Definitely worth it for $33.

Sometimes its very easy to get immersed. Sometimes its esy to get dizzy when standing up like for the rollercoaster rides. I really enjoyed the horror ones such as "Sisters" and "Insidous VR". It got so immersive at point that it felt like I was in that room at times. I also dug the "Within" app for the 360 deg movies and a very cool way to show a movie.

Probably one my faves is street view. So cool and its easy to feel like you are there with VR.

Also porn was kinda cool. Only site I went to was pornhub and the one I watched they had the camera was on the guys head so it was like the girl was doing things to you. It was neat as it made the experience more immersive. ..

So yeah, its neat for temporary enjoyment, however I can't see spending over a grand for this stuff. I got the same immersion from the 10mins trying HTC vive and the $30 VR viewer.

So I guess my message is save your money and wait until the prices come down. Most I would drop on a proper VR headset is $500 CAD, however I dont think I'd be using it a lot. Still the FPS fast action types of games with good graphics and storyline is what I enjoy most. They just don't have this type of game play for VR yet.

Are there any other VR apps you guys enjoy or are worth getting?

Here is an app that lets you play your PC games on your phone. Much better solution then being tethered by a cable. I'll be testing this in the next few days for lag, graphics and experience however it seems like a great solution and workaround. This is kind of what I was hoping VR would become vs. being thetered by a cable. If there is no noticable lag and you have an 4k or 8k display for phone and upscale say a 1080p image with fast frame rate to the higher resolution, should this not then eliminate the screen door effects and then it bocomes the limitations of your graphics card? Really curious how well this system works and you bet first game I am trying is Doom 2016. Been playing this game for days and days getting up finally to the nightmare level so I think lag and game play should be fairly easy to pick out.

Hope you guys keep sharing some great apps and links to good VR content!

I think VR will have a massive impact on gaming and entertainment, not immediately but faster than most people realize. .
Wow, that's quite a bold claim for the 21st century (15 years later..................). :applouse:

How about some lottery numbers? lol

I think is becoming a fad that may not take off. Like 3D TVs that really never toke off. Wearing those large bulky head gear looks like a huge gimmick. VR is coming to IMAX theatres we'll see how that works. VR IMAX movies may be the new entertainment norm like 3D Imax movies. A consumer would rather pay $25 movie ticket for some VR fun rather than invest several $K in hardware.

I disagree. 3D TVs were 100% a gimmick, but VR has so many potential applications, all I see is continued growth. There will undoubtedly be failures, but eventually the kinks will be ironed out, the price will come down, the gear will become more comfortable, and it'll make its way out to more and more consumers. And people will use them for a variety of purposes we can't even foresee yet, in addition to the obvious gaming/porn uses.

So what are VR sales like? Any Updates? I see a lot of VR googles that work with smart phones at Winners/Marshals but no one buys them.

I got I cheap Mattel VR to watch porn with my phone and it is pretty good. But I'm wondering if the increase in screen rate with the Occulus/htc makes it that much more emersive. Anyone have experience with this?

Haven't experience it yet. Anyone knows where you can try it out. I like to try it before I buy it.

So where are we with VR?

Is Oculus on the way out?

Is HTC going to take over the market share of VR?

I've tried those google VR and smart phone VR things and they are not impressive.

Have yet to try the more expensive VR sets.

Yeah, there's no comparison between smartphone VR and standalone VR sets. They're worlds apart. Even more so when you introduce VR controllers.

They're still on the ground floor. I don't think they're going away, but it'll take time for them to reach mainstream relevance.

I think we are going to be looking at smaller, lighter, and slim line VR headsets and wearing gloves as controllers a few years from now.

Also, looking for VR developers to created more new and exciting games could be the biggest challenge.

For now the porn industry has taken full advantage of VR (with it's immersive POV) it looks like.

I consider Porn a killer app only to get better with improved resolution and head tracking. also if you enjoy simulators, this is where VR can really shine. Project Cars, and Elite Dangerous(space sim) are a couple of my favorites.

Google Earth is an amazing VR experience

all of the above and many others i can spend hours in. I am very happy with my Oculus Rift with Touch controllers can't wait to see the next gen

Finally found a used HTC Vive on clearance on amazon (saved $400) and grab it. VR is fun, the VR porn is great. However, I can still see the screen door effect. The future of VR looks promising.
