Yes John Garfield was a great actor, but he was no Paul Muni who was Daniel Day Lewis before Daniel Day Lewis became Daniel Day Lewis.

Interesting. Both of those ladies were in a film I recently saw, "Night of the Iguana," which was made in 1964, a little after their prime years.
Now when I think of Ava Garner I picture 5-foot-2 Mickey Rooney, her first husband, with his head buried between her legs.
It's a shame Ava Gardner never did a nude scene. Apparently, she declined The Graduate because of the nude scene.

Not sure Ava Gardner would have worked in The Graduate, she was a full decade older than Anne Bancroft. The strange part is Bancroft was only six years older than Dustin Hoffman, she made it work at being old enough to be his mother.

Too many late nights, too many cigarettes and too much alcohol do take its toll. She passed at age 67 which isn't very old. On the other hand I think Betty White is 176 years old (give or take a few years) LOL.
Growing up, I always liked Wynona Ryder (and her then boyfriend Johnny Depp). She did a few offbeat movies like Edward Sccissorhands and Beetlejuice.
Don't think she's been in many movies lately, but Johnny went on to do all those Pirates of the Carribean blockbusters (and also an alleged wife-beater).

Have never watched Stranger Things, and didn't know who was in it - should give it a try while we've all got a little extra time on our hands. Same for The Plot Against America. Thanks for the updates.
If TERB had spell check built-in I guess I would use it, but generally don't spend a lot of time proof reading before posting.

Winona is having a bit of a comeback as one of the stars of Stranger Things, which is wildly successful in all 3 seasons so far.

With two hit series (Stranger Things, The Plot Against America) Winona Ryder is making quite the comeback. I always liked those crazy eyes of hers and she never drank the Disney Kool Aid. She's now more popular than, and always more talented, than her usurper Angelina Jolie.
