In all of the fights I've seen him in. I can barely remember ever seeing him get squared up. He's just perfect defensively. ...
If I recall, Shane Moseley came the closest, I think he hammered Floyd which buckled his knees, but he just could not finish him off.

So yeah I agree. It's possible but I was just looking at it from what weight they were at when they were their very best.

If Floyd were just a little bit bigger he would stand a good chance of out pointing him. Mayweather is just so damn hard to hit.

In all of the fights I've seen him in. I can barely remember ever seeing him get squared up. He's just perfect defensively. I'd put Pernell whitaker in that same class.
I dare say that he never faced anybody as good as SRL. Another situation where comparing athletes from different eras results in an unresolvable debate.

After being in the Ontario Hockey League for only three seasons, the Montreal Junior Canadiens won two Memorial Cups in 1969 and 1970. In 1970, after beating Darryl Sittler's London Knights, Marcel Dionne's St Catherine's Blackhawks, Guy Lafleur's Quebec Remparts and Bobby Clarke's Flin Flon Bombers to finish first, the Junior Canadiens capped off a great year by beating the Soviet National Team 9-2 at the old Forum. The Soviet team had the likes of Vladislav Tretiak, Valery Kharlamov (man, I hated him, I'm glad Ed Van Impe clotheslined him a few years later), Boris Mikhailov and Vladimir Petrov, while the Baby Habs had teenagers like Gilbert Perrault, Rick Martin, Jocelyn Guevremont, Bobby Lalonde and Ian Turnbull. The prior year, they lost Marc Tardif and Rejean Houle to the NHL Canadiens.
The defeat of the Soviet team was the high point of my young years. After twomping our amateur and semi-pro national teams for decades, the Soviets were clobbered by teenagers who closely checked them and outscored them. Finally, great news until ecstasy was reached with Paul Henderson taking two shots to score on Tretiak in the last minute of the eighth game of the inaugural Canada-Soviet series.

Kharlamov was a great player, I can't stand Bobby Clarke, but I gotta say, I'm glad he broke Kharmalov's ankle in '72. lol

I hated Clarke as well but he can play on my team any time.

He once said he would never had got out of Flin Flon without playing the chippy style that he played.

My newest love/hate is with Brad Marchand

Joe Carter's home run, Mike Tyson getting knocked out by Buster Douglas. Raps winning the NBA title. The Leafs playoff run with Gilmour that ended with Gretzky. I don't know why that really sticks out. Tiger Wood's incredible run of majors. Ben Johnson and Donovan Bailey winning the 100 meters at the Olympics. Leicester winning the Premier league. Maradona's "hand of god" goal.American Pharoah winning the Triple Crown. The McGwire-Sosa home run battle. The Giants beating the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Valeri Kharlamov was a hot dog who liked to gloat after scoring on Dryden and Esposito in 1972 and on other NHL goalies in 1974. He hotdogged it and baited the NHL players. I'm glad Ed Van Impe clotheslined him as he crossed the blue line against the Flyers. By the way, the Flyers fully utilized the services of Schultz, Saleski, Kelly and Dupont to slow down the Soviets to beat them 4-0. By the third period, the Soviets refused to enter the corners. They even walked out during the game, but came back to finish the game.

I still recall him looking hatefully at the Canadian bench in 1972 while limping off to the dressing room after being slashed by Bobby Clarke on the ankle.

As for Boris Mikhailov, I thought that he was a whiner who bitched the entire 72 series about every call, faceoff and goal against, in Russian, of course.

The Russians came back out after they walked out because they were told that if they did no go back on the ice they would not get paid. The Communists turned out to be capitalists.

I seem to recall a couple of incidents where Mikhailov kicked people with his skate blades. He was their Bobby Clarke.

I saw that fight on a closed circuit broadcast at Massey Hall. Great fight. Arguello was my next fave after Sugar Ray and I was upset he lost.

With age comes experience and wisdom.

I was taught that as a young lad by my grandfather and still believe that today.
With age also comes becoming a crochety old crank who just likes to argue over everything and anything, and never lets anything go. Case in point - I give you: shack

Not everyone has this happen, but clearly some are more susceptible than others.
