Wouldn't it be fun if Leafs had an all Europeans lineup sometimes this year? Kap-Nylander-Johnsson and on D-Ozhiganov paring with Zaitsev.
I watched Kadri and Marleau played together for a while now. They looked kind of disorganize as a line, imho. Can you move Kadri up with Marner if you were Bab? Kadri can't make plays consistently for both of his current wingers. I look at Kadri is just like what happened to Norman Powell of the Raptors. Kadri needs a breakout game similar to Powell, last night.
Kadri and Marleau have no chemistry on the ice. I don't know how Babcock can't see that. I would put Kadri with Johnsson and Kapanen for 3 games and see what comes of it.

Marleau-Matthews-Nylander
Hyman-Tavares-Marner
Johnsson-Kadri-Kapanen
Moore-Gauthier-Brown

I don't have anything against Kadri but did he play with Marner last year? That was why he got 30 goals or something? If he played together with Marner last year,it would make sense to get him rejuvenated by playing him with Marner again. Either that or let Marleau plays with Tavares? Good thing I don't get pay to be a coach, lol.

Assuming you are right:
1)how do you know Babcock doesn't see it?
2)maybe he has other reasons for keeping them together.

Once again, somebody who thinks they know more than arguably the most highly respected coach in the NHL. I'm not necessarily saying that you are wrong, but to even just think that you know more than Babcock and his assistants do as to how to construct the lines is really, really stupid. Mind you, what was the feedback you got from Kadri and Marleau when you consulted them about this issue? Was it the same thing that they told to Babcock? What is their chemistry like in the dressing room and off the ice? Did you offer them any suggestions? Did they listen to your advice?

Waiting to hear your insights.

I think you get my point. There is no way you could have even .001% of the information that Babcock has at his disposal, let alone his coaching knowledge and experience. As such, your strong assertions on this matter are highly uninformed, relative to the coach and his staff.

What is the name of the guy doing the play-by-play tonight? He's been pretty good the times I've heard him.

Nylander: First he nails Sparks in the head with a shot in practice, giving him a concussion. Then in last night's game he's offside on the Matthews goal so it gets called back. Then lazily skates to the point after the faceoff and deflects the puck past Hutchinson. 1 goal and 2 assists and is a -2 with 14 PIM in 14 games!

His defensive lapses shouldn't come as surprises. We've seen that often in his first two years. The best the Leafs can hope to get out of him will be his offence. He still looks to be in training camp mode. Assuming he can catch up and re discover his old self offensively, he'll probably score 10 goals and 30 points for the second half. Based on his first year's avv of $10.5 mil, this will turn out to be the most expensive 10 goals in the history of the NHL !

Put him on the 4th line like what Bab did to Marner a couple of years ago. Let's hope he will get his game back..in the playoff!

At least he's not bent over leaning on his stick sucking air while action is frantic in his own end.

Freddie is feeling flu-ish.
Hutchinson gets the start again tonight, with K.K. backing him up.

I appreciate that Hyman didn't want to touch the puck so Marner would get credit for the empty net goal but there was also a risk as well that the puck was moving too slowly.

I saw a similar type play 2 or 3 games ago. The puck was slowly going into the opposition's net and the Leaf player standing on the goal crease didn't want to give an extra push to speed its journey. Yup, the opposition defenseman pushed the puck out of harm's way.

By the time Hymen reached it it was an inch from the goal line. No chance for the defense to tap it away. He would have looked like a douche like O'Neil if he tapped that in.

Is it possible, just possible, that he isn't that good a player? Maybe, we'll stop being in denial and stop saying he'll snap out of it come playoff time. I've seen players like him in the past and they are a dime a dozen.

Good point. Kapanen seems to be off of his game lately as well.

Tough game against Boston, but the Bruins always play them tough. Toronto will need to figure out how to beat them because it looks like they are destined to meet in the first round again.

Leafs are short two players right now. A right or left shot from the point - with size and a veteran defenseman able to clear the puck. Without those two their playoffs career will be quite short.

Leafs built their team stacking the forwards. It's not a balanced team. They supposedly have the best forward group in the league. Freddy is suppose to cover for the defense. If he fails then the defense fails. Nylander lately has been showing his smooth skating. But that's pretty much it. He lacks hockey intelligence for defensive positioning. You could say when it comes to defense he's a dumb hockey player.

Need to make some changes or it will be another quick exit come April. Lackluster defence, no grit, sporatic scoring. Terrible effort tonight vs Colorado. Good luck in Tampa!

I thought the Leafs were doing pretty well when Nylander was sitting out. He's been back for 15 games and we are still making excuses for him. At least he has nice hair.

BTW: Where is Mathews?

Well the Leafs stunk out the joint tonight. Everyone get's on Gardiner but the whole team except for Andersen was terrible. If the Leafs are soft as they are the last 2 games, Leafs go into Tampa on Thursday to get slaughtered. Does Babcock throw Sparks into the Lions den or does Andersen start?
